Pokémon World : Revival

Robin

“Perhaps it’s given it purpose elsewhere,” I wondered aloud looking also at where the Diagla had left a path for us. It was certainly up there with the most powerful and fearsome Pokemon I had ever seen and I wanted to know more. But for now perhaps that wasn’t on the agenda.

“For sure. Let’s head back to the others,” I said. “Hopefully Riley is back on his feet and we can find our way off this island. It’s sure been an interesting detour, if nothing else. Where are your higher ups based?”

[Creative]

(Back to third person narration.) (Sorry for the late post ((DnD related planning ate up my week)), I promise I am actually back. :>)

Rioto

"Pft, where aren't they based?" Rioto asked. "We have little set-ups in most places. Some places in Kanto and Sinnoh are off-limits to our organization due to environmental reasons; but any place you hope to see a legendary...We're watching."
Rioto remarked with a little wink. "...But to be a bit more specific...I'm contacting my boss who is stationed in Goldenrod City." He said fiddling with his watch. "...But it looks like it will have to wait until we are in the air. No surprise, but communication still isn't functioning."

Rioto looked around as the two of them exited out into the prehistoric island. "What a wild place. I don't doubt Dialga's relation to time alteration had an effect on this island." He remarked with an air of wonderment.
"I'd have to talk to Lily more to hear more about how it looked in her visits when she was younger to be sure of course..." He mumbled, seeming to trail off into thought. He walked with a noticeably odd pattern, Rioto was obviously not very used to walking normally (without wheels on his feet) anymore, but it was apparent rollerblades were completely impractical given the environment.



He looked up to the sky for a moment as the walked, spotting two young Aerodactyls fighting along the treeline. With a slight smile he looked to Robin. "You found yourself a new friend on this island, didn't you, Robin?" Rioto asked moments after, referring to Robin's recently caught Kabutops.

Robin

I stared at him for a moment. A lot had changed for the young man since we had last met. Now he was part of something I hadn’t heard of but was sure powerful in their own respect. To locate and hunt legendaries must be an adventurous job. No doubt I had probably got in their way from time to time, the trainer that blundered in and sometimes had it out with certain legends.

Those didn’t always end in my favour particularly the Darkrai that found me and in the end rescued me from a former Rocket leader. I hadn’t seen it since.

But he was right, I had made a recent capture. The Kabutops that fought hard and fast against Sceptile. “Right, I did. Quite a Pokemon. It’s been a while since I’ve fought a wild Pokemon like that or even made a capture. Though I guess back then I wasn’t fighting a fossil Pokemon resurrected by a legendary.”

General RP

The two hiked their way back for the better part of two hours without Rioto getting a signal. The trip felt much longer on the return trip, probably due to the string of complaints buzzing from Rioto.
But finally, the two re-entered their camp clearing to find Lily tending to a single flower and a very-much awake Riley wiping down the hull of his plane.

Riley noticed them at the same time they did he. "Hey guys!" He shouted, drawing Lily's attention to the two.
"Did you see that Dialga take off? I sure did!" He remarked in his usual excitable fashion. Baron, the Croconaw, cheered in response to Riley's excitement.

"No rush, but are you guys all packed up?" Lily asked as she calmly approached Rioto and Robin.

(Also yeah, I just picked up DMing for some old buddies of mine. I've thought about doing it for a while, so I decided I may as well actually commit rather than daydreaming about DnD like I was.)

(Awesome. Yeah, DMing is a lot of fun.)

Robin

I yawned. It had been long day. But it was good to see Riley awake again with Lily and Carl also safe. Not that Diagla nor the fossil Pokemon seemed to be much of an issue at this stage.

“That Diagla was really something else,” I said first before looking to Lilly. Did she know something else about this island? Something she hadn’t told us? I don’t think anyone would be able to keep what we had seen quiet.

“Yeah, we should be ready to head off if you are all fit and able?”

General RP

Lily gave the champion a thumbs up then looked over to the pilot who was also giving two thumbs of approval. "Looks like we're set then." She said as she boarded the plane first. Riley followed suit and began getting all of the preparations for takeoff ready along with his co-pilot Baron.

Rioto let out a sigh while removing Shaymin from his head and placing it on the ground. He stretched and looked around one last time at the prehistoric island.
"No telling what'll happen to this place with Dialga gone now, but I've taken a personal interest in this island. I'll be sure to keep an eye on it."

He turned and started to board onto the plane as well, followed by Shaymin bouncing behind him.
"Time to get back to the civilized world." Rioto remarked as he disappeared into the plane.

Robin

I watched the others board the jet giving the island one last look from the ground. It had caught my interest as well. Was this a regular home for Diagla? What was that strange flying beast we had spotted? Was I missing something? Either way a return at some stage would probably be in order.

Climbing aboard I quickly took a seat and looked at the rest of the crew. “Well we made it out of this one, and that was supposed to be a break. Let’s hope what you’re we’re actually heading for isn’t half as problematic.”

Jude and Bridget were out there someone up to something I had no idea about. We had to stop them. Somehow.

A good amount of time passed in the skies without much conversation, excluding short (normally joking) intercom transmissions from Riley over the announcement system.
After a few hours without any conversation amongst the few passengers, finally Lily spoke up to the group. "I'm having Riley drop me off a short walk from home..."

She remarked. "I think it's time I return to my father and apologize to my sudden disappearance."

She looked to Robin. "I'm sorry for any trouble I might have caused." She seemed irritated with herself as she spoke. "...But I don't think I am as much of a remarkable trainer as I thought I was."

"I think I'm better off studying in Sinnoh (?) a little while longer." As she spoke she nervously played with her hair. She was trying hard to show little emotion. "Without my Darmanitan...I just don't think I can cut it..."

Robin

I hadn’t expected that from her. She had been so eager to leave but it seemed the loss of her Pokemon had shaken her. “Are you sure?” I asked. “What happened to your Darmantian? Is there something we could do to help you find it.”

Losing a Pokemon that you were close to sucked. I had never physically lost Pokemon but I had been in close situations. Gyrados had been severely unwell at one stage and Pidgeot had turned to stone only recently. Both events had hurt.

Lily grimaced at Robin's response but put on a show to lighten her features. "That's the thing. My father was the last person to see him." She said. "That's another reason it might be best for me to go back home..." The girl was clearly distraught, but focused on getting her hands back on her pokemon.

Rioto glanced up for a moment from his phone and then returned his gaze toe the screen. He seemed sympathetic of Lily, but mostly indifferent.
"Yeah, I hope it's okay...But I credited you to my superior." He said cutting the silence. "He said he'd like to thank us, more specifically you, for helping with the Dialga problem."

"I arranged some transportation after we get to Unova..." He started, glancing up at the girl for a moment while he spoke. "You're welcome to join me. I'm heading to Cinnabar Island, I'm sure the boss-man would like to talk to you."

(Sorry for the wait. Is he speaking to Lilly when he says ‘you’?)

Robin

I look between them and nod. “Perhaps it’s for the best that you head home. If your father can help you find Darmantian then you need to be there.”

We still had other matters to worry about though. Bridget, Jude and their Darkrai. “It was after all your father who helped us not long ago. We still need to track Jude down.”

I cleared my throat and thought for a moment. Cinnabar Island…. “Who is the boss man?” I asked Rioto.

[Creative]

(All good. And I had a feeling I left that a little confusing, my bad. Yeah he was speaking to Robin.)


Rioto glanced up to meet Robin's question, he flashed a big grin while speaking of his boss. "His name is Oscar Fortune, he used to be a researcher under your grandpa and Professor Rowan as well apparently." Rioto remarked. "He doesn't take himself too seriously and that's cool." He said while petting his sleeping Shaymin.

The flight was a long one, with a single stop for fuel along the way but still seemed to pass quietly and quickly. Rioto spent most of his time messing around with two different phones or quietly petting his pokemon, while Lily seemed to not be in the mood to chat, even Riley's joking intercom transmissions slowed to a halt after a while.

Finally, as the plane began to finally hover the coasts of the Sinnoh region:

"Attention passengers, we're home-

croc croc"

Robin

I had spent much of the flight sleeping. It had been a long haul and a tiring few days. But I finally stirred as we entered the descent.

I looked to the others bleary eyed. “So where is this HQ of yours?” I asked Rioto. It seemed like whoever these legendary catchers were their would be an adventure in it. And maybe that would help lead me to Jude, Bridget and their Darkrai.

[Creative]

It was creeping into the first hours of light.

Riley left the cockpit of the plane and waved with both hands at everyone, his eyes were a bit tired but he looked as energetic as ever. "Welcome to Sinnoh!" Shouted Riley as he moved passed everyone and opened the door to the plane and caused to stairs to lower. He stepped off first, followed by his copilot.
Lily seemed to smile a bit, finally, as she stood and left next.

Rioto was began gathering up his belongings while he answered Robin. A smile creeped across his face. "It's within Cinnabar Volcano, nothing you're not used to."
He stood up and stretched before placing his sleeping Shaymin on his head and walking off the plane in his socks.

"We're a little off from Sandgem town right now, as per your request Lily." Riley said. "After Baron and I get some rest and relaxation we're gonna fly this sucker up to Hearthome for a refueling."


The plane was nestled onto a large strip of grassless ground, those in Sandgem were sure to have heard the plane's landing, Riley seemed to know this because without his usual fanfare he started off towards the nearby town.
Lily nodded at Robin and Rioto. "Thanks for the journey, it helped more than you guys will know. I'm determined to become the next champion of Sinnoh, but first I need to get my Darmanitan back."

She bowed a bit. "I'll see you guys around." She said before hurrying off in the same direction as Riley.


Rioto looked to Robin and sighed a bit.
"End of an era." He said jokingly. Rioto nodded towards the distant beach, in the opposite direction of where the other two headed.
"We got a boat just a little ways off headed towards the shore, I know we just got done travelling. So if you want to stretch your legs a bit, I understand."

Robin

I nodded to Rioto after waving goodbye to the others. A change of pace once again. There were plenty of things to attend to though. Plenty of things to deal with. “I’m down for a walk. Shouldn’t be too far and you’re right, I could do with a bit of a stretch.”

Pidgeot came out of her ball eager to take flight and stretch her wings while we walked. “You’ve really landed on your feet since we last met,” I say to Rioto.

(I thought I posted my reply far earlier! Apologies.) (Also, my brain apparently was stuck on Sinnoh instead of Unova I'm realizing now.)

"Landed on my feet in more ways than one I guess." He chuckled rattling the roller blades hanging around his neck.
Rioto threw one of his pokeballs up into the air. "Let's go, Ledian!" He announced as the pokemon formed next to Pidgeot and began buzzing ahead playfully. A few people could be spotted by the shore, getting ready for some early morning fishing.

"So, what's your team looking like these days, Robin?" He asked the champion whilst looking ahead to their pokemon taking the lead. "I know you caught a Kabutops, what were your plans?"

(Sorry for such a long break between posts. It’s been a whirlwind couple of months)

Robin

The question was a good one and I considered it while I watched his Ledian flutter by. In truth I hadn’t made too many changes overall though there were times that I had been forced to make switches.

“You know the classics mainly. Sceptile, Poliwrath, Pidgeot and of course Jolteon, Arcanine and Gyarados are always in the rotation,” I said.

“They’re the ones that everyone knows about. My championship team in many ways but there’s always room for the likes of Kabutops or a few others to pop up in the side. How about you?”

[Creative]

"Hmmm..." Rioto pondered.
"One." He said pointing to the Shaymin sitting on his head.
"Two." He said pointing to the Ledian in the sky.
"Three." He said rattling the loaded pokeball on his belt. "This one is ol' Girafarig."

He stopped walking for a moment to pat his pockets jokingly. "Yup, I think that's it."
"But these three have me covered in any situation; isn't that right, guys?"

The Shaymin and the Ledian both sounded off in the affirmative.

The little group was approaching the shoreline, though the boat was yet to be seen. Rioto looked out as the sun stretched across the waterline on the horizon.
A man and a young boy sat fishing on the edge of an outstretching dock.

Rioto smiled. "I love the calm moments." He looked up at Shaymin who seemed to be in agreement. "We get more than enough action, so these are the real memorable moments; just taking in the world before I have to help save it again."

He chuckled. "But you get it. You're one of the few people that do!"

As soon as Rioto's feet came to a stop...On the horizon, a shadow (presumably the boat).

(So, after an age and a half I’m posting again. It may not have to go anywhere.)

Robin

I grinned taking in his words. “I know exactly what you mean. There’s always something going on. I don’t think I’ve taken a proper break in years. Jumping from one adventure to another.”

His gaze looked out to the horizon and I followed his eyes spotting the looming shadow. Was that the boat? “But to be honest, and I haven’t said this to many people, I don’t think I can stop. It’s the adventure that keeps me going.”

I gulped a little and placed a finger on each of the pokeballs on my belt. “At one stage I considered retiring as Champion, young I know, but I felt incomplete at times. Almost like all this expectation meant I was missing out on a normal life.”

“But then this happened with Jude and Bridgette and I knew I had to stay. People had to see a champion be a beacon for something more than power. I think I needed to believe in that as well.”

I coughed realising I was spilling out stuff that hadn’t exactly been asked for. “Anyway, yeah. Is that the boat?”

[Creative]

Rioto was quiet as he listened, he smiled though. He respected Robin, even now, after all these years.

“Anyway, yeah. Is that the boat?”

The younger man squinted to make out the shadow as it closed in, a boat indeed. "Looks like it!" He said giving a lazy thumbs-up and a smile.

"Alright, come on down!" He shouted to the Ledian. He returned the Pokémon shortly after. "Get some rest, buddy."

The boat closed in fairly quickly, it was a fancy model of boat, definitely built for speed; it was large enough to fit about a dozen people in it comfortably but there was only a single man captaining the boat. "Straight to Cinnabar, my good man." Rioto said to the silent driver. It could be reasoned that these two were familiar with each other judging by the man's exacerbated look on his face.
"Didn't they tell you who you were going to be picking up?" Rioto laughed out; Shaymin, reading Rioto's energy, giggling along.

The man glared for a moment, gave a light sigh and looked back towards the water. "Just keep that thing in its Pokeball." He said pointing to the two pokeballs on Rioto's hip through the rearview mirror. "I'm serious. Not again."

Rioto placed his hand on his chest. "Cross my heart."
Rioto looked to Robin and whispered. "This dude is a stick-in-the-mud, don't worry about him." Shaymin nodded along as their human spoke.

Robin

I chuckle and look down at the two balls on his belt, wondering what mischief his Pokémon had got up to before.

“Has Ledian caused problems for him before,” I asked. I was the one at the disadvantage here knowing nothing about the group Rioto worked in. While they probably knew me. At least Rioto could be trusted.

The man in behind the steering apparatus interrupted. "It's not a Ledian. It's a Ditto." He grumbled. "And it's a menace."

Rioto, looking at Robin. "Little guy is just playful, Ditto really likes Leppa." He explained away the complaints from Leppa.
The young man changed the subject. "Luckily, we're gonna get to eat when we get to Cinnabar- I'm starving."

Leppa continued grumbling as the small boat shredded along the ocean's surface. The group passed a small herd of Lapras, curiously looking over at the vessel moving at top speed. It wouldn't be long until they arrived on Cinnabar.

(Happy new year. I’ve just got back from hols)

Robin

I gazed at the Lapras with a grin. In another lifetime I would probably have tried to capture one. But at this stage it was just nice to watch them interact and live their lives. I had the Pokémon I needed.

But still I was curious. What was this group I had found myself with?

“What’s on Cinnabar Island?” I asked.
