(This was, surprisingly, a real tactic.) I'll attack the right wolf yet again. Though Bayod is pinned, I trust that he'll be able to get out of it.

(Attack Roll! (Good!))
You lunge the beast's wound, your sword stabbing deep into it's organs. The beast screams, but goes limp as it's life fades.
Bayod struggles, but get his mace up into the air and takes a swing.
(Attack Roll! (Poor!))
In his position, his counter offensive is weak, but it was enough to strike the beast's spine, cracking it and with a whimper, the beast passes on.
Bayod blinks as the beast falls down onto his hand. There is a strange crystal in his hand, with a dull grey color to it.
[Banshee Spell (U): Releases an ear-piercing scream when released. Allies of the user are protected from it's effect, but all enemies must pass a roll or be unable to move for a turn]
[Bayod's current spells: 1 Frost (U), 1 Banshee (U), 1 Earth (C) and 1 Air (C)]

I help Bayod get up if he needs it, and then look to check our losses among the Amarzi. "Was anyone injured or killed?" I ask.

They look shaken up, but eventually one answers.
"Only Mole. He was ambushed from the dark," he answers, looking at the amarzi that the left wolf had made a sport of killing.
"First Moth, and now Mole, who's next?" another questions sorrowfully.
"Deep breaths," Bayod advises. "This wasn't going to be easy on us, I'm sure someone as smart as Duck had told you that already. But we aren't in the position to mourn right now, and we definitely can't fall to panic. We need to keep moving before we give them the time to turn the tables on us."
Bayod looks to you, and then to the paths. The next decision would be the final choice before you reach the door. It fell on you to decide between the area with the still grass or the area with the strange mushroom.

"Stay armed and at the ready," I say, as I head down the area with the still grass.

You venture out into the darkness, but before you could make it to your destination, a voice-
"Hey, mister, can you please just die already?"
-was said right from your left, and your left hand like a sharp point stab into it.

I check my hand to see if I was injured. "You wisps know you won't beat us in a fight, right? That's why you had tried setting a trap with those wolf... Things."

(First time writing from mobile. Wish me luck. PS, it didn't go well)
Your hand has a small cut, but it could be worse.
"Admiral, it was by your own orders th-" Bayod attempts to speak before the laughter of children resounds. You can't tell which directions it comes from, and how many enemies there are, but you do know that the answer isn't encouraging.
"Fight? We don't fight!"
"Humans don't need to fight in order to die. Plenty of humans die from choking on their food!
The laughter resounds as you hear scuttling footsteps approach your group. You hear the death throes of two of your amarzi companions and realize that under the cover of the dark, the wisps had launched an attack

"Emperor chain you bastards all to hell!" I curse. If I'm within striking distance of a wisp, I'll attempt to stab it.

(Attack Roll! (Excellent))
You sword plunges out into the darkness where you think you heard a wisp, impaling it through what felt like the upper section of it's skull and killing it in that moment. However, there's still a lot more hiding in the darkness, and you can barely even see where your sword is plunging.
You hear the sounds of another amarzi receiving a fatal wound, and the sounds of many more being wounded. It only ends when Bayod gives out a shout.
"We can't win in this position. Get to the light!"
From the sounds of the footsteps, it would seem the amarzi took heed of this advice and began to follow Bayod to the grassy section that you and the rest were initially headed to, probably to get out of this situation where no one could see what was going on.

I try to keep the wisps distracted while the others run away, and strike out into the darkness yet again.

(Attack Roll! (Miss!))
You lunge out again, but your blade fails to ring true. However, the scurrying of feet begins to slowly surround you, and you hear the sounds of small persons lunging back at you.
(Attack Roll! (Good!))
You receive a good number of stabs from multiple directions. Thankfully, none were fatal, but more of this and it won't bode well for you.

That's enough of that - if I can, I try to run to regroup with the rest,.

You turn tail to flee, although the wisps express clear disappointment. You run into the grass almost the moment you get into the light. You hear the frenzied and desperate cries of the amarzi the ran in ahead of you, who are panicked and probably strayed from each other, but the first actual person you meet is none other than Captain Bayod.
"Well, Admiral," he states looking at you, "You seem to be in poor shape."
Admittedly, you were covered in cuts.

"I counted three further losses before the retreat," I said. "Did we lose any more?"

"In lives, no, but in formation, all of the amarzi have gone astray due to panic and with all this grass we can't see where everyone is," Bayod explains. "The problem is that it's difficult to determine what to do in this situation; I hardly believe that the wisps hadn't set up a trap here so we need to find the amarzi, and quickly. However, the only effective way of doing so that I can think of is to call out to them. Of course, then we reach the issue that doing just that will draw not only our allies' attention to us but also our enemies'. We just got out of a hairy situation, and we'll need to go back into it in order to reach the kitchen door. I don't want to risk the trap being a monster and be blindsided."

"It's better than being picked off one-by-one," I say. "The Amarzi are clearly not fighters, and they're guaranteed to die if we don't call to them."

"Well, if you say so," Bayod says, before taking a deep breath, and letting out a deep and resounding voice.
It was so very much like a bear.
"Everyone, to here!"
The amarzi stop making any movement as they take a moment to process the power of that voice before starting to move over. However, as they made their journey, you see a tall, spear like thorn shoot out of the ground. There's blood on it.
"What!? Where did that come from," screamed a voice in that direction. It seems that you've found the trap.

"Does a monster really attack like that? It would've at least disturbed the grass," Bayod states as he readies his shield. "We should keep our eyes open for any indication of anything at all. I'll go up front towards where the thorn is, if that's alright with you.

Bayod nods and advances cautiously. However, it was halfway through where a spear rises out from the ground and towards Bayod.
(Attack Roll! (Excellent!) - Crude Trap)
The spear penetrates through Bayod's left shoulder, causing him to cry out. He looks to the source, although the two of you aren't treated to the sight of a beast. Instead there's a large floral growth in the ground, which seems to be connected to the spear. Bayod grabs the spear, and squeezes his hand, crushing the thorn with his grip strength and freeing him from the plant. The plant makes no reaction.
"Sorry Therinean, have you got a bandage?"

"I had medical equipment on the Origin, but not on me," I say. "This should do for the time being, though." I take off my coat and cut off one of the sleeves with my sword, and use the fabric from that as a makeshift bandage for Bayod, and then put my coat back on.

"Thanks, admiral," Bayod nods as he takes the splinter of thorn remaining in his shoulder out and quickly bandages and compresses the wound to prevent himself from bleeding out.
"It's not sufficient, but it'll do until we reach safety. But now that we know the nature of the enemy, we need to look for warning signs," Bayod states as he turns to you. "Well, not that we can determine what those signs are without looking at the plant when it's ready to strike. Shall we go?"
