"You have as much time as you need," I say. "Let me know if there's any way I can be of assistance."

"Ah, but of course, you, Bayod and Kiele all have the most important role that you can be provided: You'll be keeping me safe."
"The more you speak, the more intense my stomachache gets," Bayod mutters with closed eyes and a wry expression.
"It's nothing too terribly difficult, it's just that if Isaie's or Abelin's group were to discover us and launch an attack on my person, well I do believe that I've already made it clear what should happen if complications were to occur while deactivating the Blood Wall," Maes replies casually, as if totally unafraid of the idea.
"I see, then it may be better for Therinean and I to defend this location from inside, and have Kiele return to the airship. That way, the risk of being found out decreases."
"If only things were that simple. I'm afraid that if the Blood Wall was able to take advantage of Listene's unstable mind to compel her into activating it, then it's likely that attempting to tamper with it could have a similar effect. Abelin and Isaie, who are both weary from their fighting and heavily influenced in their minds by the Blood Wall, could very well feel a compulsion to arrive at this location as it calls for them to stop me. Having Kiele here to add to the defense would only increase our odds of success in this scenario. Rather, having even more would be better, but I fear for the ship's safety if we leave them with too few in numbers. I hardly imagine that a rag tag group of slaves could fend off against an attack led by either Isaie's or Abelin's group."

"Then the three of us will keep you safe as you deactivate the Blood Wall," I say. "I'll show you the way to where we found it."

"Alright, well then it appears that we are in agreement. Give me a moment and I'll start," Maes says as he turns to face the Blood Wall. "You two should leave and discuss your strategy with Kiele. There's only one road to this building, but roads go both ways. Kiele can't enter the building as she lacks immunity to the Blood Wall, and if the fighting were to break out in here then there's a risk that I'll be caught up in the crossfire. That means that the three of you will need to figure out how to defend against an attack from both sides, assuming that you don't wish to spare someone to go out into the city and launch a proactive attack against Isaie and Abelin."

I take a moment to begin thinking of a plan. "Kiele, how quickly do you think you can find the other harpies in the area? I'd like to use them as lookouts, in case Isaie or Abelin approach. I think it makes sense for Bayod and I to be nearest to the entrance, given our immunity to the Blood Wall."
