The crowd parted for the champion and the security opened the door as Robin approached the entrance. The owner of the building excitedly greeted the champion. "Welcome, it's not every day we have two champions visit us. Please, follow me, we have a room ready for you." He walked Robin to a backroom with a microphone set up. A middle-aged man with sunglasses sat in the room as well, seemed to be set up as a interview of sorts. "Feel free to say what you need to. Derek is here to ask questions he feels will help clarify certain details."
The man looked up and smiled. "Take a seat, Robin." He said with a kind tone.

“Thanks,” I say to my usher as I take my seat and look towards Derek. “Well, I’m just going to hop right to it if that’s alright with you. This is a matter a global security after all.”
I clear my throat and shuffle in my chair. “Well then, I’m Robin Oak, one of the only Pokemon champions not to have allegedly disappeared over the last few months. Instead, I’ve made it my mission to unearth just who’s behind all this with the hopes of bringing the other champions back. Initially, I went to the now ex-champion Law, who refused to offer me any assistance. Though he would later go on to blame me for whatever reason. I would later find Jude and Sonny on a faraway island. However, you know most of that story as you know I’ve been to the Orange Islands.
“Now, on those islands I discovered that Bridgette, Jude, and an ex-Team Rocket leader Priar were not only behind the champion disappearances but have also formed a new Team Rocket. They have legendary Pokemon in their possession. They have weapons that can turn Pokemon to stone, something which I don’t have cure for. They did it to my Pidgeot,” I sigh, grabbing her ball and releasing the stone figure. “Once among the fastest of her kind, now a statue. We need to form an army to stop them because they’ve been building in the shadows for to long. Remember how the Elemental Order laid turn to the Hoenn region? Well, this new Team Rocket could be worse still.”

Silence filled the air, everything sat, heavy for moments until Derek spoke in hushed voice, clearly shaken a bit. He stammered while eyeing the frozen pokemon. "What is it you advice the people of the regions do while this happens?" He asks the champion. He thinks up a following question. "Where are Jude and Bridgette now?"

(It’s okay, I have limited internet for the next month anyway.)
Robin
I ponder the question, keeping my gaze off Pidgeot. I couldn’t look at her while doing this. “It depends on where they are. Get somewhere safe, get somewhere secure. Protect your Pokemon and protect yourselves. I don’t know where Jude and Bridgette are, I can’t tell you what they’ll do next. But they were planning something on the Big Orange and it will hit us all at some point. If you see anything out of the ordainary report it to the authorities. Even the slightest thing could be a sign of Team Rocket.” I eyed Derek and grinned. “But I will do my best to sort it out. I just need those that can help to make themselves known.”

Derek sat for a moment then spoke. "You heard here first folks, those who can't fight, protect yourselves. Those who can help are needed." He sat for a moment again, seemingly in thought before he looked at the Pidgeot. "How do they...do that?" He said pointing to Pidgeot. "How do they freeze pokemon?"

I eyed Pidegot and sat in silence for a moment. “Well, I don’t really know. Priar had this weapon, like a gun or freeze ray, which shot out a jet of light and froze whichever Pokemon it hit. Several other Pokemon were hit in the battle we had and if this gets out I’m sure plenty more will as well. It might be worth having someone look into a cure.” I shrugged. “I.. really don’t know.”

The man sat a bit longer before ending his train of thought. "Do you have anything more to say to the viewers?" He asked before a worker at the station ran in with a note. "Oh." He exclaimed quietly before speaking up. "Attention: all citizens of Kanto, Johto, and Sinnoh are to be under national warning. Be extremely of strangers and report odd occurrences in these times, avoid young ones being out without supervision and remember to protect your pokemon."
He looked up at Robin. "I think that will be all Robin, anything more you'd like to add?" He seemed a bit interested. As if he needed to speak to Robin off air afterwards.

I look at the Radio Presenter curiously and shake my head. “No, I think that will be all for now. Stay safe everyone, we will get through this,” I say finally. I shake my head and return frozen Pidgeot to her ball with a sigh. Looked like I would have to stay around for a while longer, that was alright. Until something big happened I didn’t have anywhere else to go.

The discussion continued for a brief moment before finally the show ended and the man looked grimly at his microphone for a moment before looking up at Robin. He took a moment before speaking. "I know some people who might be able to help. Two guys, they've helped a lot of people in really grim situations and I think you might want their help." He said to Robin while nodding slightly. He fished around for a pen and scrap of paper; once he found them he started scribbling something quickly. He slid it to Robin. "That will have their numbers, they should help you." He said before standing up and heading out the door. "You can go out the back exit if you'd like to avoid the press." With that he disappeared down the hall.

I took the slip of paper and copied the numbers onto my watch before scruncing it into one of my coat pockets. Had I done the right thing by asking people to fight beside me? Or was I just getting more people needlessly in danger? No, maybe not. People needed to fight by my side this time. I frowned and stood up quickly typing a message to Carl to meet me round the back of the building. I looked around the empty room and dialled the first number I had received wondering who could possibly be on the other side.

The call went through but there was no response for a long period. A constant drone of ringing, it seemed there was nobody to answer until suddenly there was a light click. With no hesitation there was a sudden voice: "Who's this?", it sounded off quickly. The words sounded a bit panicked, very sudden and bit off at the end.

I make sure that no one would overhear me and clear my throat. “It’s Robin, Robin Oak. I was directed to you by one of the radio hosts, said you might be able to help me out with the reemergence of Team Rocket.”

There was a suddenly a click and there was silence. The voice on the other line has disappeared and was replaced with a buzzing tone. It took a moment before suddenly the device once more picked up the voice. "Meet me at the Vermilion pier at midnight tonight." It was a quick, bitten-off message like before, the voice disappeared again and this time for good.

“Alright, I’ll see,” I say before realising that whoever had been on the other side of the call had hung up. My watch bleeped signalling the call had ended and reverted back to displaying the time. I sigh again and stretch my arms, looked like I had another meeting and was unlikely to get much sleep because of it. I grabbed my bag and looked around the room one last time before taking off for the back entrance, where Carl would be waiting.

As night fell over the Kanto region, the Vermilion City harbor had all but fallen asleep. A few late-night fisherman were getting into their boats but it was seemingly devoid of anyone. A few barrels were scattered about for a morning crew to board onto a ship but the dock was otherwise empty. A lone Rattata sat atop of a crate eating from the interior.

I watch the Rattata for a moment with a small smile before heading for the pier. Who could this mysterious trainer be? And what could they possibly want in return for helping me? Carl stayed several metres behind to keep a lookout for any trouble, just in case this happened to be some kind of ambush. I was, after all, down to only five on hand Pokemon given Pidgeot’s condition.

A voice crept over to Robin from an unknown location somewhere in the pier. "Is that guy with you?" The voice questioned. The mouse Pokemon looked up and quickly jumped out of sight but could be heard scurrying away.

I glance around realising the voice had meant Carl. “If you’re referring to Carl, then yes, he’s with me. He can be trusted with anything you tell me,” I reply. Where could that voice had come from? A boat?

I reach for the ball but pause before sending it out. “Show yourself and I’ll show you Pidgeot. I’m not in the mood for games.” It was probably not the wisest thing to say but I didn’t enjoy being at a disadvantage.

There was a long silence before anything happened. A small shadow stepped out from behind a crate at the end of the dock next to a small boat. "Okay." He said nervously. "Let's see it then." A small arm lifted and pointed at the ball.

I nodded and pulled the ball from my belt releasing the stone statue of Pidgeot in a flash of red light. “There you go,” I mutter. “Who are you by the way? Can you help us?” I asked the small figure.

The small figure left the safety of the box followed by a figure a foot taller. The smaller figure entered the light and was revealed to be a young man, maybe in his late teens, with an almost sickly appearance. He pulled out a small stone and placed it on the frozen Pidgeot. He began messing with his watch while looking at the Pidgeot. In a brief moment the stone started to glow brightly of many different colors as well as the statue. A bright light quickly flashed and then dispersed revealing Pidgeot unfrozen and in a new form, larger with more feathers.
"Mega-evolution." He said to himself quietly fixating on the stone and then looking back at the taller figure who seemed a bit shorter now.
