And by bad I mean I feel the most free I have in a while.

I'm skipping church.

It's a beautiful day outside and always a horrible one once inside the church doors. My mom is in the choir, so she goes upstairs to the loft. I, meanwhile, go downstairs, and sit in the back of the church opposite the side the priest serves communion on.

Today, I'm staying outside.

It's a little chilly, and the playground equipment isn't the most comfortable to hang out on, but it's not like the inside of the church is much better, anyways. And out here, I can take out my phone, and I don't have to listen to Father Joe's terrible homiles.

I don't regret staying out here in the least.

And my mom doesn't even have to know.

She never sees me in the church anyways, since I sit in the back. And her buddy Father Joe can't tell on me either, because I never see him nor talk to him. I can wait outside the church for her to come out after mass. It's practically flawless.

Okay, you clearly don't get what I was getting at. Have you ever heard of Pascal's Wager? It is, statistically, better to have a religion than it is to have no religion. I recommend changing denomination until you can say that you don't want to go at all. The Church of England in Australia, the Lutheran Church in Denmark and Iceland and whatnot and a handful of others are actually extremely liberal and whatnot; I'm sure that you'll be able to find a parallel for those in America.
