It was the dawn of the third age of the space era. Several civilizations had managed to establish colonies throughout their solar systems, and began to research on means to send manned missions to other solar systems. How will you lead your civilization in this crusade towards other systems and when you find another alien civilization?
[ CHAPTER II ]:
1. No godmodding, flaming, etc.
2. The setting is the Milky Way. For a streamlined and easier experience in the RP we're going to assume everyone is near eachother or at least capable of traveling to each other with ease.
3. Time is dynamic and not necassarily set at the beginning of the RP. The admins will decide if it becomes a set value/rate.
4. You do not have to choose to be human. You may make your own alien species.
5. The word of admins are final.
6. FTL travel is not available at the start. You must research it as the RP progresses.
7. Be realistic. There are limits.
8. Travel is limited to interstellar, not intergalactic travel.
9. Permanet effects to one player's nation/empire are only allowed his/her consent.
10. All basic RP rules apply here. More rules may be added later.
11. The date begins sometime in what we consider to be January 1st, 2300 12. No central human empire exists. Humanity has separated into many different interstellar groups.

Overhauling the Absolute Monarchy system, the people of Slydavia are governed under a mixture of Direct Democracy and a Federal Republic. For every Province, there is a monocamerial legislature. Each representative of every city in the province is allowed to introduce laws that must have a majority approval of 3/4s of the legislature. Once the law is passed to the First Minister, he or she can veto it or sign it. If the people are unhappy with the legislature or certain laws, a petition may be started that must gather 1/2 of the province's population approve of it. Any action in the petition must happen within 48 hours.

Brief history/backstory: Brether was a population explosion waiting to happen. The humanoid species were living in much simpler times until interaction with humans and upon using these newly provided tools they were able to go past their tribal ways and connect with one another. The rate of technology gain was much higher than that of humans, mainly because they took whatever they could from them and instantly had a knack for understanding. Numbering some 10 billion a hundred years ago, the rapid modernization and colonization efforts by Brether has suddenly made them a very real and prominent nation.

Wealth (100 is very wealth): 40: The wealth of the nation isn't too great. While it does have some natural resources, the snow caked planets of Brether generally offers nothing but ice.
Poverty (100 is extreme poverty/very poor): 75: A rather socialistic society, the lack of real leaders have left the entire nation without a financial elite. Due to this, all the wealth is spread across the 34 billion people, obviously giving each person not all that much. Despite the lack of wealth, people are generally happy with their situation and get the provided necessities of life. Due to living in a tribal lifestyle for most of the species's existence, the lack of luxury really doesn't bother that many of the citizens.
Technology (100 is extremely advanced tech): 85: High tech low cost is the brand of Brether. The technology is made of whatever the people can get their hands on. Upon initial sighting, most people think Bretherian technology as primitive but upon further inspection it truly is a marvel of the entire galaxy.
Corruption (100 is extremely corrupt): 0: Corruption is non-existent in Brether due to the lack of a social elite and real governmental leaders. Without a centralized government to bribe, the people of this empire enjoy a clean conscious that their government is the 'cleanest' in the galaxy, if not the universe.
Military (100 is the best/most superior military): 35: Used mainly as a defensive and colonial force, the Bretherian military generally don't seek fights with outside forces to where they have no need for a strong one other than for new settlements and protection of homes.

Military Population: 750,000 + Citizen Militia (4 billion)
Major Branches: Colonial Guard: The largest branch of Brether (except for the Citizen Militia), this is used to defend colonies on top of the Citizen Militia as well as scout out surrounding areas to protect the settlers. Astral Defenders: Citizen Militia: Ragtag citizens devoted to specifically protecting their homes. Considered as a mob army by some, even though the Citizen Militia are generally untrained they all have the smarts to craft their own, generally medium tech weaponry. If the planets of Brether were to be invaded, it would be guarenteed every home, every pile of snow, would have a rifle behind it.. generally consisted of older Pessoss and heads of family, this number would definitely fluctuate upon war and it wouldn't be surprising to see women and children joining the ranks, picking up a weapon to defend their beloved homeland.

Physical Description: Somewhat tall, three eyed people with universal pale skin. Third eye is on the center of the forehead. Good bit of hair due to the colder climates of the nations. Hardened chest, almost to the point of rock, to protect their hearts.
Intellectual/Intelligence Description: Extremely intelligent and hardy people; lacking the knowledge for centuries made them first regarded as dumb but once provided with human technology these people flourished. If given a piece of technology, they will find a way to improve it while making it cheaper. Have a high emphasis on popular societal opinion.
Extra Info (optional): All Bretherians have been implanted with a nanochip which rapidly uploads information to their mind though leaves them to their own opinions. Whenever a social issue, as small as a new park at a small town (though this would just be for the townsfolk) or war, Bretherians are able to make their informed decision and cast their vote through the cloud. The votes are generally instantaneous, showing the great feat of making large scale direct democracy work.

Brief history/backstory: The planet of Karosh, home to the Syhelians, has always been awash with war. For the Syhelians are a bloodthirsty race who would rather war with each other than seek a common peace. Relatively recently in their history, rampant warfare on a global scale has been replaced with heavily regulated duels and brawls that has allowed enough stability among the various nations to form a Confederacy and construct their first colony ship.

Now that everyone is in the same basket, there's a glaring lack of industrial capability though that's slowly being rectified.
Poverty (100 is extreme poverty/very poor): 60. Wealth is primarily hoarded by those that fight or have proven themselves leaving most citizens in poverty. Luckily the standard of living is high enough to be tolerable thanks to technological advance.
Technology (100 is extremely advanced tech): 90. Finally under a (mostly) stable series of governments, the innate lust for innovation has yielded great results.
Corruption (100 is extremely corrupt): 60. The Confederacy is a conglomeration of different and relatively recently independent governments. The result is a vast array of sectional differences as each warlord looks out for their own nation.
Military (100 is the best/most superior military): 80. Viewed as a unified whole, the Confederacy has a powerful military. Unfortunately their fractured nature makes logistics a headache and leadership tends to break down at the highest level if a clear threat or target isn't presented.

Description of weapons/ships/tech: Confederate technology has recently undergone a massive leap thanks to the work of Cabalist Overseer Palus, who has developed a method of harnessing the gestalt psionic field into usable energy in Confederacy technology. Work is being done now to convert existing weaponry and rudimentary shield systems over to this new and relatively free method of power. For now energy needs are met by inefficient but highly sustainable fusion reactors.
As a result of the intense thirst for combat on a personal level, the Confederation favors infantry over armor and artillery. Generally inserted from the air en masse by dropships and protected by heavy screens of fighters and bombers, Syhelian infantry is devastating and surprisingly full of utility thanks to the cabalists embedded in their ranks that provide the necessary firepower to make such mass deployments feasible. Powered armor is just starting to make its appearance as well, adding much needed durability to the fight.
In space, a similar philosophy is steadily emerging with massive super carriers disgorging swarms of fighters and bombers with long range strike capabilities. What few escort ships exist are primarily anti-fighter platforms with mostly close range firepower.

Physical Description: Syhelians are scaled humanoids that developed mostly underground. As a result the typical Syhelian has coarse stone grey skin and poor vision when transitioning between stark light contrasts. They are compensated not by above average smell and hearing but by being latent psions. Every Syhelian emits a nascent psionic field that combines into a powerful gestalt field when Syhelians group. Once critical mass is achieved they are capable of acting as a cohesive unit by sharing sensory experiences and thoughts and 'cabalists' are capable of harnessing it into physical manifestations.
Intelluctal/Intelligence Description: Syhelians view themselves as the apex of intelligence, both because they are the only sentient life form thus encountered, and because of their psionic prowess that seems to be unique to them. Of course this doesn't mean their intelligence is put to good use. The collective psyche of the Syhelians seems geared only towards technological prowess and then using said prowess to get the leg up on their opponents. For a Syhelian, innovation and fighting are the ultimate expression of being and everything else takes a backseat. Internal Affairs All is going pretty well. In fact, it's going so will because this week is Independence week, the 50th anniversary of unification of the divided world. Each day of the week is used to honor the Armed Forces and all who died to unite the divided republic. The first day is used to Honor the Department of the Navy. Military Affairs As stated above, the Armed Forces are getting ready for their displays for each day. The Navy tours Destroyers, aircraft carriers, and battleships across the Republics to celebrate said day. There are Navy parades in the streets, schools have been closed for the week, and restaurants and bars sell Navy themed dishes.

Earth Alliance
Mars Colony"Eureka!" Says a scientist inside his lab. The entire team looks at him, wondering what happened.
"I did it! I solved it!" The scientist continues. "Look, come here."
Doctor James Colbran had just solved the puzzle humanity has been trying to for the past 200 years since the initial theories around 2104. He was working on a government project to research the famous "Warp Speed" concept. After his discovery, he enters a request for field testing. A prototype warp drive was assembled and attached to a small craft. EarthGov representatives were sent to oversee the testing.
The unmanned ship is ready. The warp drive is activated. An energy drain is detected, but was expected.
"Three, two, one, mark."
Suddenly the ship vanishes. The control team waits for the ship's automatic stop system to shut down the warp drive and relay back information. After two minutes, one of the Earth Alliance's sattelites at the very edge of the solar systems begins to receive information from the ship. It had left the solar system, and was halfaway towards Alpha Centauri. For an initial testing, that was a great achievement! EarthGov increased the budget of the team by 50%, and ordered them to continue testings until they develop one that could be used and controlled by manned vessels.

As for their infantry, they get the best of everything in terms of metal alloys and up to date technology.

They also have what they call a “grinding organ” in the backs of their throats, which in addition to helping break up food, also allows them to make certain sounds that humans cannot pronounce. Intellectual/Intelligence Description: Certain groups among them are quite intellectually gifted, but none more so than the Starcast Eye Tribe. They are inventive tinkers and researchers, as well as being flowery and poetic of speech. In addition, they administer psychedelic herbs and lead a religion based on communion with a “Starmind” who is believed to have given the Tribes language in the distant past. The second most intellectually gifted (especially linguistically) are the Two Tongue Tribe, followed by the the Downcast Eye Tribe. Extra Info (optional): They have among them certain psychedelics which allow them to share their ancestors’ direct experiences. With certain machines they have been able to send transmissions at FTL speeds. to other star systems. They have yet to decode/translate the responses. Also, most of the bigwigs in the Seven Tribes live in orbital space-citadels, surrounded by thousands of their own kind.

The Empire of Brether is as bustling as ever. The snow and scrap cities spanning throughout the lands are growing outward and to the skies as the population continues to explode. Some citizens speculate at this rate expansion outside of the solar system would be mandatory but others chastise this skepticism, seeing it just as war hawks squawking. On what could be considered a compromise, the people voted with the micro chips to send a scouting force outside the solar system to find new, uninhabited planets to begin colonizing.
On another subject, this isolationist nation is now considering coming out of its shell. Considerations towards alliances and trade agreements are now present.

Confederate Activity
The great colony ship of the Confederacy sped ever closer to its destination, the arctic world known as Grahm. A decade ago when construction on it had started, it had been the most advanced project of its time, capable of housing the millions of colonists for the six month journey from their home world to the frigid little ball at the far edge of the habitable zone. Yet now it seemed old, archaic even as it lumbered to a halt at its destination at sub light speeds. For just as it began launch, a major break through in stellar travel was discovered that further built on the gestalt field. In short by combining the mental input of a dozen skilled cabalists into a bank of super computers, the gestalt field of a Syhelian ship could be manipulated into a sort of 'shield' against physics itself and allow for previously unheard of speeds in a relatively short period of time. Already two escort class frigates were outfitted with the technology and were even now being made ready for the trip to Grahm. If they proved successful they would begin interstellar exploration immediately in search of new exploitable lands.
All this comes at a crucial time, Karosh is dying a slow lingering death. After millennia of exploitation for war and sparse mineral resources to begin with, Karosh seems finally tapped out and barely capable of sustaining the existing Syhelian population. In the face of this, colonization of Grahm became inevitable first for its minerals, and then for its ability to sustain the now skyrocketing population of a people that had finally found peace. For now, the deficit in minerals is being made up for by innovation in manufacturing and extraction techniques. Hardly exciting for a Syhelian but a necessary tedium.

Internal affairs The week goes as planned. The next day arrives, and with that comes Army day. Military parades are held, showcasing the latest hardware. Military Affairs A satellite is launched in hopes of finding extraterrestrial life. In it is loaded with a pre recorded message of peace, along with samples of the greatest things Slydavian culture has to offer. (Anyone interact pls)

Confederate Activity As the escort frigates raced onward towards Grahm their sensors detected an odd signal not far beyond the reaches of their own solar system. The CSC Pride of Ya'tan altered course to intercept the source of the signals, it seemed the first recorded flight outside of the Confederation star system would be on a wholly untested form of propulsion.

The satellite slowly heads in the direction of the ship, oblivious to any sort of detection system. It kept looping the same Beep signal to get the attention of anything.

Confederate Activity The Pride slowed to a halt, all systems were functioning normally apart from a slight leak in the aft hydroponics bay. Once the satellite was acquired on sensors, a wave of excitement rippled through the crew. This was undeniable proof of alien existence and the Syhelians wasted no time in dispatching a dropship to collect it, at which point the Pride made all haste in returning home. It would take several months of hard work to translate an entirely new language and indeed make any sense of the probe.

The Satellite The satellite contained directions to Slydavia in the galaxy, as well as a message of peace and various gifts from the People, such as books, art, etc.

Earth Alliance
The warp technology has been successfully developed and is now being integrated to EarthForce and EarthGov vessels. Some civilian ships also manage to purchase a few drives but at a very expensive cost. Scientists believe that with a little more effort, they could develop a cheap warp drive.
In the meantime, the military begin their own FTL research program, attempting to develop a faster and more efficient warp drive (Current standard warp drives enable ships to travel from warp 1 to warp 4 speed.).
The Earth Alliance Space Technology Development Agency also manages to launch another "alien seeker" sattelite. Such sattelites have been launched since the 21st century, but never got any results. The team that worked on it claims that this time they might have some luck, as it is has been equipped with an advanced deep space beacon.

Confederate Activity After a long and arduous translation process, the alien language was decoded. The message it contained left the Syhelian council confused. It seemed these foreigners gave peace and tribute* as well as a series of coordinates. The general consensus is that these aliens have already recognized their subservience to the Syhelians, which of course would imply they already are aware of the Syhelians, a disturbing thought to say the least. A fringe group of anthropologists suggest that some of the meaning may have been lost in translation and advise caution. Based on this information the Council decides on prudence.
*Peace as a concept to the Syhelians is basically one of subservience. Offering peace more or less means accepting your weakness. There is very little nuance to it beyond that and as a result giving them a message of peace and offering gifts seems to confirm their view.
The CSC Pride of Yatan was sent to the coordinates contained within the satellite to discover what manner of aliens had sent the message. Meanwhile her sister ship began exploring the surrounding systems in search of mineral deposits.
Psi-Drives, as they've quickly been dubbed, are now undergoing further refinement and being prepared for outfitting on the CSC Halycon and her sister ship the Hyperion. The pride of the Syhelian stellar navy, two super carriers that carried a vast complement of fighters, bombers, dropships and armies. It was always best to prepare for a glorious war after all.
