Admiral, welcome to the Command and Control center. We are only a couple lightyears out from our last surviving planet, where the Sleeper ships are being loaded and prepped for launch. The process will take months to fully complete. They will send you more ships when they can, but no promises can be made. So far, intelligence says the enemy will be coming in waves, smaller at first as they consolidate their holdings, merge smaller fleets into larger ones, bring up forces from their reserves, and so on.
First of all, some basic questions. How difficult do you expect this fight to be? Do you think it will be Easy, Moderate, Hard, or a Nightmare? Also, is our fleet offense, defense, artillery, or stealth focused?

All things considered, I believe it will be an absolute nightmare to make it out of this alive. Our fleet is based on defense, however, so hopefully that will give us an edge when combating against the attacking fleet.

We don't have many forces, but what we do have is top of the line. Each and every ship can take a beating, an impenetrable wall of shields and armor.
Currently, we have your flagship, a great Dreadnought-type ship. It is equipped with large arrays of lasers and missile launchers, and is also the toughest ship in the fleet.
In the back line are a pair of Carriers, with long range missiles along with fighter, interceptor, and bomber squadrons.
Up front are four Cruisers, great walls of defense. Their defenses are second only to your flagship, and their laser arrays and autocannon emplacements are a force to be reckoned with.
Beside the Cruisers, eight Frigates stand at the ready. More speedy and only slightly less armored than the Cruisers, Frigates carry two missile launchers each, as well as providing short-range fire support with their autocannon emplacements.
Finally, there are the twelve Corvettes under your command. While they have little armor, their shields protect them more than adequately, and their speed is second to none. They carry interception lasers, a single missile launcher, and light autocannon emplacements, allowing them to serve in a support role, or to catch a blow that was meant for a larger and more important ship.
Now, let me explain some basics of space warfare to you, just to jog your memory. There are three types of weapons systems, and three types of defense systems to counter each one. Missiles are highly effective at long range, since they pack a punch and can eat through armor and hull in no time. Lasers are effective at medium range, burning into shields and superheating armor until it melts. Autocannons are very effective at short range, able to tear through armor easily. However, outside their optimal range, each weapon system is much less useful. Countermeasures will confuse missile targeting systems, leading them to explode prematurely and do little or no damage to the intended target. Shields can absorb and deflect laser damage, dissipating it so it does little damage. Armor is too tough for autocannon projectiles to get through, along with magnetics in the armor, just bounce off and leave only a tiny dent.
Alright, how do you want your forces deployed? We have three lines of defense, Front, Back, and Reserve. The Front line is where enemies will come at first. This is where the hardiest ships should be, to protect those behind them. The Back line is behind the front line, where your forces can fire at the enemy but the enemy will not be able to get to them unless they have special weapons or capabilities. The Reserve line is covered by Headquarter's emergency cannon, which can take down one enemy ship per round that is in the Reserve line. However, ships in the Reserve line cannot fire at enemies until they have reached the Front line.

The corvettes are placed onto the reserve line, carriers onto the back, frigates and cruisers on the front, and my dreadnaught also on the front.

The ships maneuver to their ordered positions.
