"It's responding to outside stimuli, I think it's waking...."
Suddenly everything around you comes into focus. You hear beeps and whirs of machines and you can clearly see the white ceiling with blinding fluorescent lights. However, out of focus are while-cloaked figures standing over you, appearing to look in a a panic.
"Give it another dose of anesthetic! 80 milliletres!"
"We want it sedated, not dead! 80 mils is too much!"
"Oh god! It's getting up! If you aren't going to sedate it, I'll just have to put it down!"
One of the figures brandishes a large knife. You force one figure away from you two the side and slam the other in the gut. Looking in front of you, you see the bed you are on is facing a window overlooking a dark cloud covering. You run through the window, experiencing no passage of time in between being on the bed and shattering the glass. You fall face-first through the cloud layer, landing like a cat on a single flagpole you assume to be at least 1000 feet up. Despite the shining sun and blue sky, the city of Patriarch still seems dark and groggy. You hear the screams and oppressed tones of life around you.
You know only one thing. Your name is Maxwell, and you are the only one who has a chance of fighting back.
