You have run outside, and you see it, a force of Masons have made their way through the Mountain. Several Mason footmen are already at the village, with swords, axes and maces in hand and are currently killing a few of the villagers who weren't quick enough to run to the middle of town.
You need to get your soldiers, and fast, otherwise you'll be completely overwhelmed by the Masons in minutes.

Buy 50 men at arms (-250 = 150)
Buy 10 archers.
Use standard equipment.
Set the archers to the keep with the other archers to fire down at the enemies,
put the Men at Arms in strategic positions to the point where they're hidden so that the village seems undefended, but when the Masons come in, we can converge upon them and surround them.

The Men at Arms are hidden, and the archers begin firing, but the Mason archers are returning fire as well. The footmen charge head first into town meeting your ambush head on, but get slaughtered. The Masons now have a decent idea of where your Men at Arms are.

How to get more credits?
Put the Men at Arms into different positions as to prepare for another ambush to confuse the Masons once more. They can't fight out in the open JUST yet,
and luckily, the archers are hidden and behind good cover, so I have no worries there; just instruct the archers to keep their heads down and show minimal body parts.

(Looting the corpses or getting more from the bank or king.)
You put them into different positions this time, but then the Masons starts burning down the buildings and torching a few of your Men alive (-3 Men at Arms. 47 left).

Oh hell nah, charge and flush 'em out fiercely with the archers in support of this effort.
Loot all the dead bodies, and ask the King for more funding after alerting him of this new threat.

That's when it happened, but you realise it when it's too late. You had fallen straight for the Masons trap and a force of Knights and Vanguards appear from their positions and metal clashes on metal. Though your men put up a fight, it was utterly useless against the Masons more heavily armed and better trained troops, your archers do a bit better, killing one or two vanguards, but they're largely unscathed.
You have now lost 10 men, you're down to 37.
One of the Masons laughs as your men are cut down, shouting out, "This is the best they could do?!" he lets out a long maniacal chuckle. The Masons are starting to kill the villagers and almost the entire town is on fire.

The king is half a continent away, in the capital. Your archers attempt to, but this man isn't foolish, he ducks behind the burnt out ruins avoiding arrow fire as he and his warband make their way towards the port cullis that leads into the town.
