By 2045 we achieved a great many things: Peace, hovertrains and Hovercars, and so on. But we made one mistake that would be our last.
Nanomachines.
In a sense, nanomachines helped us so much. It helped prolong death by cancer, and allowed us to heal cuts within seconds. But our problem was that we had everyone who had nanomachines injected into their bodies were hooked up to a 'System' to monitor everything that happened to them; Blood, heart circulation, glucose levels, endorphins released, water intake, food intake, everything in the body, was closely monitored by the U.S government to control everything. If the government detected a civilian with nanomachines doing crime, they could cause a blackout instantly to help law enforcement. They could suppress emotions and release them.
Nanomachines were the result of slow, crawling discoveries of REE (Rare Earth Elements) Such as Silicone. Suddenly, miners in Turkey found a MASSIVE jackpot of REE, thus allowing the boom in Nanomachines.
Soon, the governments of many countries found it tiresome to manually look over millions of people's injected nanomachines. The year after the first boom of Nanomachine buying, a collaboration of governments agreed to build 3 AI's to look over the System. There was a simple security system if government officials wanted to take over from the AI's; You just had to send genetic evidence of a Registered Government official to the first AI and they had automatic control.
Nanomachines cost 150$ in 2045. By the next year, 2046, they cost 50$ due to popular demand. By default, when you recieved nanomachines you were given a suppressor incase of overusage (For example, getting hurt too many times resulted in overworking nanomachines that heal the cuts.) If you overused nanomachines, you would feel a slight pain in the chest, and if so, you should use your suppressor immediately.
By 2047, The world was chaos. Why? Because a vast amount of people had injected themselves with nanomachines. And a group that wanted to cause chaos and anarchy and in that chaos, a new world order, suppressed people's emotions and released them.
To accomplish this, they kidnapped the president of the United States (In a massively covert and complex operation that took months of planning, mind you.) and forced him to enact the code to get into the system. The President, John White, forcibly did it and when he did, they disposed of him. And once they got in control, they did massively more damage: They hacked into every government that had the System. The amount of stress, having your emotions being suppressed and then suddenly released, damaged nearly everyone's frontal lobe, the part of the brain that controls speech and wording, mind you, and turned them into mindless killing machines.
Houston was probably the most affected city.
But there was still hope, for people who hadn't injected themselves with nanomachines, or those that had a nanomachine suppresor, were not affected. There is hope, Fading Hope, in this Chaotic world.

Civilian Defense force of Houston (CDFH)
The CDFH was a collaberation of mostly civilians from all walks of life. They banded together under a flag and are housing anyone that isn't going to kill them. They despise hate the national guard for their atrocities afflicted against them. They are trying to look for a way out.
Crying Wolf PMC (CWPMC)
Crying wolf was a PMC founded by William Heiser, then Governer of Houston. They were supplied with meduim-professional weaponry, however do not have authorisation to use Military Grade firearms. Hate CDFH as they were sent as Riot Control.
National Guard Of Houston (NGOH)
The more armed version of CW, they are professionally trained yet many were killed in the first few days of Anarchy. Holding out in a small hideout somewhere, Looking forward to cooperating with anyone out there, save the PMC, and the CDFH. Have acess to Military Grade Firearms/gear.

Are the secret group that hacked the System. The agents are hardly equipped with anything yet are massive in numbers. If you are one, you're probably one sent to Houston to extract current events.
