This is something I've been thinking about for over a year. There's a lot of embarrassing old shit here from when I was 15; simultaneously, I want to pilfer some of my old ideas that have continued to rattle around in my head. (Especially from the creatively-named Fantasy RP). If I wind up reusing a name and the only thing that comes up in google search is this old place, I don't want people who didn't know me way back when to see how much of a shithead I was when I was a kid. I don't know whether other people feel similarly, but I imagine I can't be the only one.
At this point the forum as it is is largely archival and nostalgic too, so I don't imagine that would cause much disruption. This isn't a public forum on a kids' computer game anymore taking in anyone who shares a common interest; it's a closed community of childhood friends. It'd feel kind of fucking weird if five new people all joined tomorrow with no prior connection to us to start roleplaying here - even if that was how things often worked for the old forum back in the day. Likewise, I don't think the forum-posts here are of interest to the general public, even if just to read. I can't imagine a scenario where anyone of us really wants anyone else to freely read all of the posts here. If my coworkers or friends found out about half the shit I said here as a kid, I'd be mortified to death, and this would help prevent that.
However, I don't want to just do what the ROBLOX company did that resulted in this forum being created to begin with, and completely blindside everyone. If I wind up doing this it won't be for at least a year (so that those of us who only occasionally stop by can see this and know to prepare), and if people have significant objections, I won't do it.
