So, I've finally finished the main story for SV, and I've gotta say: These are probably my favorite Pokemon games of all time. And having played since Fire Red and Leaf Green those aren't words I say lightly.
I really like how they broke up the stories here, and I definitely like how they managed to make them all small but with personal stakes that just felt so much more important to me than saving the world. Seriously, I felt for Arven after a certain plot twist (Not spoiling it for those who haven't played the game yet). I also really like how they gave us time for us to get attached to Miraidon/Koraidon. At first I was really confused about us riding legendary Pokemon as mounts but they made the Nebby plot all over again and honestly I'm here for it.
What surprised me most of all though was just how much I liked all of the new Pokemon. Usually half of my playthrough team contains older Pokemon I randomly decided to use, and it'll be a surprise if there's only two older mons (Ignoring Black and White, which was entirely new mons because... well, if you played BW you know). But here, the only older mon was my Frosmoth, Larry (And yes, it was funny when I found out there was also a gym leader named Larry). There was so much that was so awesome to me that my team was constantly changing, and I was surprised when I finally settled on a team for the end game.
As I was thinking about all of this though, I remembered that there were a few others here who were looking forward to SV and decided to ask you all for your opinions on the game. How you liked it and what surprised you and all that, you know?

I haven't gotten the game yet, but I've been keeping up with my friend's playthrough and watching clips online, and it looks really fun. I think Gamefreak is starting to understand what people are looking for in a Pokemon game, but I definitely think they need more manpower in their company to make these games as polished and optimal as possible.

Amen to the polishing thing. I've been joking about SV being Pokemon as presented by Bethesda and I am not backpedaling on that anytime soon.
