I'm just curious, I personally consider it to be some time between 25 and 27 when the majority of people become actual adults and not just another stage of adolescence, but a lot of people also seem to think it's around 21.

I don't think there's a set age. Rather, it's more a matter of maturity, financial independence, etc. My grandfather enlisted in the marines when he was 17; I would consider him as an adult at that age. I'm a 21-year-old college student without any substantial income of my own; I would not consider myself an adult right now.

I agree, I was more talking about a current generalization (I think most people become adults in their mid 20s nowadays, whereas 50 years ago the age tended to be around the age 20).
