Dex, I'm sorry that you feel the way that you do in Lego's screen-shotted post. There were definitely points in my life where I considered you a very close friend. That said, it is not unnatural for friendships to wax and wane with time, for people to grow apart and come together in ways we would have thought highly unexpected years or even months ago. Yes, at the moment our relationship may be best called an acquaintanceship moreso than a tight-knit friendship, but frankly that's the case for virtually everyone here nowadays. This isn't because it's the internet, either, it's just how time works. Neither of my parents keep in close touch with anyone they were friends with as a teenager, none of my friends on-campus have had the same best-friend since middle school and I have seen friend-groups form and fall apart within months.

That said, I fully understand what it's like when other people have moved on and you haven't. That was me for years, with people like LNG. It sucks and the one-to-two-year age gaps between lots of us staggering us moving to other stages of life (Duck's already graduated college, I just finished my first year) doesn't help things.

If it's any consolation, I have good memories of you. Where the Supernaturals are Born was fun for the handful of days where it lasted, and The Island was an interesting experiment in collaborative worldbuilding (if one that ended in an unusual manner).

Loneliness is hard to escape from. I can try to make room for you, to catch up and just chat. That said, the unfortunate truth is that I've moved on from this place, and you will need to as well. I remember you being a year or two younger than me; if you're about to start university/college, that's a great opportunity for meeting new people. Join a club when you start school, and if it doesn't work out, join another. I guarantee you will eventually have more people calling you friends, and even eventually more people calling you best-friends.

I hope you do better going forward.
