I posted an analysis of some characters from Mistborn, The Stormlight Archives and Elantris on his subreddit and mentioned that I haven't gotten Oathbringer yet, and the guy sent me a PM saying that he had some spare copies lying around and wanted to send one to me. He is awesome and really cool and a really nice guy from the brief online interactions I've had with him.

That’s really cool. I’ve never actually read any Sanderson books, where’s the best place to start?

That’s really cool. I’ve never actually read any Sanderson books, where’s the best place to start? This diagram might be useful for you, though I personally just recommend chronological order of publication. Start with Elantris, go onto Mistbron era 1, then Warbreaker, then the Stormlight Archives and/or Mistborn era 2. You can also read his short stories like Sixth of the Dusk, Shadows for Silence in the Forests of Hell and The Emperor's Soul at any time during that, as they don't spoil anything and can be found in his Arcanium Unbounded collection. Do not read Mistborn Secret History without having read at least the original trilogy and preferably all the currently-released era 2 books, and think of Edgedancer as being like Stormlight Archives 2.5.
