A sudden chill rippled through Salon Road as an ear-piercing scream sliced through the air, quickly waking anyone within earshot from their rest.
In the meek Scottish village of Ratterfondula, a murder had occurred. Such an event had never been witnessed in the area before. In fact, a notable remark from a police officer the very next day emphasized that fact: "Nobody would expect our small town to be the centre of a murder, and yet here I am looking at the body of our local butcher who was stabbed twice in the heart."
After much investigation, the killer was identified and brought to a Glasgow prison, where, through intense interrogations, he revealed to police that he had associations with the LARC, an atomic research centre in the outskirts of Ratterfondula.
The United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority, having been associated with the LARC, was soon directly questioned. The authority expectedly denied any relation to the killer, and later went on with implications that the killer may have had mental instabilities.
And with that little contradiction starts our mystery.
STARTING PROMPT
Night settles over the town and darkness shrouds the ominous forests in the area. The town rests in a peaceful sleep, but not for very much longer.
A roar emanates from the forest, gradually getting louder and louder until the whole town shivers. Entire windows shake and one shatters in the laundromat. Paintings and kitchenware rattle. Vases fall and smash on the floor below.
This is where you wake up.
SETTING
The village of Ratterfondula is located in the Scottish county of Lanarkshire, approximately 10 kilometers south of Glasgow. It is home to approximately 700 people.
A few location highlights:
Leo's Diner, a diner themed around the 1950s.
The Grand Estate, a large mansion in the northern portion of the village. As of now, it is up for sale.
The McIntosh Apple Orchard, an aptly-named farm that's existed for generations.
The Larkhall Atomic Research Centre (LARC), a large building on the outskirts of the village.
The Greener Pastures Nature Learning Centre (GPNLC), a recently-constructed school that sits in the town's only park, Alban Park.
It is currently the 16th of September, 2004.
Rules:
- You can have a job at any business in the area (such as the school, the laundromat, or the diner), but please make sure that it's fair. You cannot be a worker at the LARC, for example; nor can you be the mayor of Ratterfondula.
-"Location of residence" only needs to be specified by the road that the house is on, and if it's across from or adjacent to a house that somebody else in the RP lives. Houses are any of the buildings on the map that are not marked with a number.
-Basic roleplay rules apply, but I'm sure you all can follow those easily.
-For now, I'll just be giving the roleplayers prompts, but I may make a CS if the need arises.
-The general idea of this roleplay is to unearth the answer to the mystery:Why was the butcher, well... butchered? Did the murderer have connections to the LARC, or didn't he? If he did, why did the UKAEA cover it up? And what was that awful sound that woke you up? Is there something out there...?
