My dad and I were talking over dinner, and the topic of conversation went to stuff that we were reading. My dad then asked me if I would ever consider writing a book - Keep in mind that my family does not know about Bannanachair, and they think that I have no friends, due to the fact that my mother is against the concept of "internet friends" and I don't trust anyone else in my family to keep a secret from her. Was my dad reviewing my internet traffic and insinuating something about Bannanachair, maybe? I couldn't tell, so I stayed on the side of caution and said that I've occasionally considered writing something, but that writing is hard (which, in fairness, it really is).
My dad said that if I wanted to write something I probably could, given the amount of free time that I have, and so I decided to test the waters a bit to see if he's aware of Bannanachair. Now, another fact is that my dad saw my laptop when I was 13 and saw some of my really early stuff for ROBLOX, though maybe he's forgotten about it, or maybe that was just a dream, as he's never mentioned it since. I was really trying to figure out if he was insinuating that he's known the truth this whole time by this stage, so I gave a response that would reveal for certain whether or not he knew the truth:
"Who knows, maybe I am spending all of my free time writing short stories and longer stuff and you just don't know about it?"
"Is this like one of those times that Donald Trump says 'who knows' but everyone actually knows the truth?"
"Well, you don't definitively know the truth, do you?"
"Yes, but your question was 'who knows'. The person who knows is you. You know if you spend all your time writing."
"Yes, but you don't. Maybe I spend all of my free time writing, deleting the majority of it because it's not up to my standards and just not sharing with you."
"Yeah, but you don't do that. You're a terrible liar and I know all of your tells."
Now I know for a fact how much information my dad possesses, and how much he doesn't. He knows absolutely nothing about Bannanachair, and thinks that I spend all my free time screwing around playing computer games. He also thinks that I'm a bad liar, when really, I'm a damn good liar when I'm telling people stuff that they already believe. Unfortunately I'm so good at lying that I managed to make my dad respect me less for what he thought the truth was.
