He really needs to find an outlet, or just a good vice. Though Happy being Happy, he'd probably get murdered in a holding cell if he doesn't choose the right one.

Eh, depends upon the person and if you're looking to actually solve your problems, or just pretend they don't exist. The latter is all you'll get, unfortunately. Otherwise it wouldn't be a vice.
We all know my vice of choice is marijuana. Tried drinking after my arrest, but that just made me a bigger asshole. Rosemary and White Sage are two, typically legal alternatives for the same effect, if at a lesser degree. Not the same breeds you can just pick up at a grocery store, of course. Maybe those organic specialty markets.
Brewing alcohol was fun, but depending upon how big the issue you want to escape is, that may not be hands-on enough.
Absolutely stay the fuck away from pills and syringes. That's a path you don't want to go down, and very few return from.
Uhh... Graffiti? Before you suggest just regular art; I imagine the thrill of being caught is part of the reason for it. It can be channeled for good, though; Some graffiti is absolutely beautiful and can be used to cover up racist nonsense or make a statement. Just look at Banksy.
Uh... Idk, there's not a lot of one's out there that won't leave you fucked up in the end of the day. Eating, maybe? Reverse that into cooking for a double-win, of course.
Shooting ranges can be good for blowing off steam. I would suggest skeet over just a plain target range, though.

There's something in lazing about and doing nothing productive that's amazingly therapeutic.

A) I'm not really a fan of breaking the rules. B) Isn't "Sloth" considered a deadly sin? Doesn't that mean I'm suggesting one of the seven worst things to do?

Theoretically, yeah, but mental stimulation could be argued for it. Hell, greed is a good example; What is greed, the desire for one's personal gain? If that's the case, everything we do as humans is inspired by greed. Why give the homeless man $5, to let him feel better, or to subconsciously give yourself a nice, warm fuzzy with the idea that you've done some good? Both, probably, but you still did it in part for yourself, which is greedy. Thus, greed isn't really inherently bad, its how you express it that matters.

Haha sorry, I really like that argument/discussion. Managed to turn over an AP Gov class full of uppity dicks with basically that rant.

My sociology professor's a big fan of it. I believe he said it was something like Rational Choice theory? I dunno. Could be wrong.

I'm a big fan of whatever it's called where you never go to extremes. Never be too lazy, because that's bad, but don't be too hardworking, because that's bad as well. Don't be too cowardly and don't be too brave, don't be too gluttonous but don't starve yourself, don't be too lustful but celibacy isn't good either, don't be too stubborn but don't be afraid to stand up for what you believe in, etc.

There's no such thing as an original idea, after all.

It's something Greek, I think.
