NOTE: This takes place 20 years before Siege of Dorthol (http://www.roblox.com/Forum/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=128066101). This is a school RP. This is a mini-RP. Don’t complain.
Hello, this is the second installment in the Arloth series/world. Unfortunately, however, I have decided against making an official published guide, as I will then be unable to edit things that are cannon for later things in the same cannon. Thus, any and all Arloth guides will be updated either on a wikia, if someone decides to make one (Which eventually it will become complicated enough that we might actually NEED one), or on a piratepad.
I am anticipating that this mini-RP will take place within the span of 10-20 pages, roughly 30 at the very most. I have ideas for the content that will fill up these pages,

1) Storyline (1
There are three levels of Apprenticeship in the Arcane Order of the Green Tower. The first two stages aren’t allowed to journey outside of the tower. They are Novice and Student, respectively. The third stage is the one more commonly known, referred to simply as Apprentice.
To become a Novice, one must be a child, and literate. To become a Student, one must pass a test of knowledge, be it philosophy, politics, economics, linguistics, history or the basics of Arcanism. Novices and Students study in large groups of others of their level, all inside of the Tower, and thus nobody sees them.
To become an Apprentice, one must prove his or her skill of the Arcane art to an Arcanist of any level that has already passed the three levels of Apprenticeship. You are then the Apprentice to that Arcanist, and are free to travel around both the small guard-town that’s sprung up around the tower and wherever your Master goes.
To pass the level of Apprentice, one must go through about five to seven years of training, and then take a test. Arcanists and failed Apprentices are forbidden from telling the details of the test to anyone, and the only other thing that is known is that it involves the Keeper of Secrets. This test comes only once a year.
You are one of the Apprentices who is being tried this year. The test is in three days, as you were told in advance via a note left on your pillow. You, and the dozen other apprentices who have been chosen this year, are fearing what is to come…
2) Arcane Order of the Green Tower (2
The Arcane Order of the Green Tower was formed over a thousand years ago for unknown purposes. They have sealed their oldest histories in the top floors of their tower, so only what is known about them from after the empire of Ghoril came to the area around them is known.
The Arcane Order of the Green Tower decided not to become part of the empire of Ghoril, and so a battle was fought outside of the Tower. Ghoril, even with its superior numbers and few magic-users, managed to be forced into signing a treaty that states that the Arcane Order of the Green Tower will be a separate entity than the empire, but will be able to request the aid of the Arcane Order if need be.
And so the Arcane Order of the Green Tower continued their studies, studying both history and Arcanism. And then came the time when the Empire called upon the favor that was owed. It was the early days of the Deathstriker War, and still people didn’t fully realize what was going on to cause the civil-wars. The Arcane Order of the Green Tower quickly saw the hand of the cult in this, and decided to spread the word to everyone.
However, they were too late. They barely managed to save this region from destroying itself, and by the time word got around the world – Likely other organizations came to this conclusion individually of the Arcane Order, else it would’ve taken longer for word to get around – the empire was gone, leaving behind several fledgling city-states and kingdoms.
And so the Order just continued its studies. They inadvertently caused the Lehtrat war when they found out about a slave-trading operation that some noblemen of Tarthel were participating in, but the Order didn’t really participate that much in the war.
Currently, the Arcane Order is led by an elected Green Archmage, a lifetime position, elected by the democratically selected Green Council of Seven. The Green Archmage also chooses the Guard Captain – the only member of the Tower Guard that knows magic - , the Head Librarian and the Keeper of Secrets. The first two of those positions are easy to understand, and not much is known about the Keeper of Secrets job other than by the Council of Seven, the Archmage, the Head Librarian, the Guard Captain and the Keeper of Secrets himself.
Then below them are the Wizards, who are allowed to have anywhere between none and four apprentices. Below apprentices are Students and Novices.
3) Other Factions of Importance (3
Although the only faction to make a direct appearance in this RP is the Arcane Order of the Green Tower, these factions may come up in conversation later.
The City-State of Dorthol is the most prosperous city-state, actually nearing the status of kingdom due to the protection given to the outlying towns and villages.
The Kingdom of Tarthel is the largest kingdom, a safe(-ish) haven from the surrounding world. About a hundred years ago some rogue noblemen started the Lehtrat war and became their own kingdom.
The Moonshooter tribe is the second-strongest tribe of hobgoblins, and although they are a bunch of mindless brutes, they manage to somehow make alliances with other tribes against the Bloodknife’s.
The Kingdom of Lehtrat has recently had several border skirmishes with their neighbor Tarthel. This faction is also historically important because of the Lehtrat War.
The Bloodknife Tribe is another tribe of Hobgoblins, currently the strongest, that often war with the Moonshooter Tribe. Although they wage war upon other hobgoblin tribes, they are actually quite civilized, only attacking the other races when attacked, trading with several of the factions and even building a few small hamlet villages.
The city-state of Rokij is an ally of Dorthol, Tarthel and their allies and the primary trading partner of the Bloodknife Tribe.
The city-state of Vilon, located two day’s ride south of Dorthol has historically been aggressive towards the other city, and its allies.
The kingdom of Brelor, comprised of three cities and several towns and villages, has tensions rising against the city-state of Nillis.
The city-state of Nillis is a common trading partner with Rokij, and currently tensions are rising between Nillis and Brelor.
All the deities have churches, which act as factions of their own.
The Miner’s Guild is a guild of miners, based in Dorthol.
The Dortholian Merchant’s Guild, the Merchant’s Guild of Nillis and the Vilonian Guild are all merchant’s guilds that are big competitors. It is whispered that the Vilonian Guild is the real source of power behind the city-state of Vilon.
The Deathstriker Cult was the cult responsible for the Deathstriker War. It is unknown if they are still around, or if this cult to N’Lok, god of manipulation and treachery, was wiped out at the end of the war.
The Fire-Dragon Irinix lives inside of a mountain that is part of the Fireblood Mountain-Range, which makes up the north-eastern border of Tarthel. It is rumored that he has the Embersteel Tribe of Hobgoblins under his command.
4) History (4
Two hundred and eighty years ago, the Deathstriker War took place. It was a war that involved the Deathstriker Cult deceiving and tricking all the noblemen of the empire of Ghoril to war upon eachother. They were eventually caught by the Arcane Order of the Green Tower, along with likely a dozen other similar organizations in other parts of the world, but by then it was too late.
All the factions left in this area struggled to survive, and while trade managed to continue, many travel routes went out of business.
For a hundred years this part of the world warred on itself and traded with itself, although not much contact was made with other regions. And then the largest war since the Deathstriker War occurred – The Lehtrat war. All major factions in this region took sides in one way or another.
For the one hundred and eighty years after that war, not much occurred. Life went on, the city-states and kingdoms were starting to rebuild from the two devastating wars that shook the world.
5) Races (5
There are more races in the world of Arloth than those presented in this RP, although the ones prominent in the region (And in this RP especially) will be described here.
Humans are one of the most prominent races in the entire world. I swear that if I have to describe them…
Dwarves are shorter than humans, and often live for 100-200 years. They are shorter and larger in build than Humans, and are also quite common.
Elves are another prominent race in the world, although not many live in this region. They often live for 400-600 years. They are tall, with pointed ears and a slim build.
Half-Elves are the offspring of Humans and Elves. They are not a true-breeding race, although they are seen every once in a while.
Halflings are slightly shorter than Dwarves, and more human-like or elf-like in build. They live for about as long as humans do.
Rathen are taller than Elves, with no hair growing on the tops of their heads. They have anywhere between ash-grey and a light grey skin, although darker colors are more common. They have no ears, instead, they have three parallel lines going along their cheekline. These lines glow a bright red, and are believed to be used to help see in the dark. They live for about 60 years on average, and aren’t very common in the world – although they ARE common in this part of the world.
Goblins are small, thin green creatures that covet gold and other gems. They aren’t common in this part of the world, although there are some in some mountains. They tend to be tribal, and live for only 40 years at most. It is also rumored that there might be a secret passageway between the goblin keep and part of the enormous mine inside of Hawksnest Mountain.
Hobgoblins are slightly shorter than Humans, with a big burly build and orange skin. They have sharp teeth. Hobgoblins are tribal creatures, and love warfare.
6) Magical Creatures (6
In this region of the world, the only magical creatures are Worgs and Dragons, and even then there’s only one Dragon. However, I will still give as good a description of these creatures as I can.
Dragons are gigantic, scaled creatures with giant wings and horns and sharp teeth. They are the stuff of legend. There is only one Dragon in the nearby area, a Fire-Dragon named Irinix.
Worgs are a special breed of wolves who have been infected by Arcane magic, causing them to grow larger. They have thicker skin as well, and sharper teeth. They tend to be mounts ridden by Hobgoblins.
7) Deities (7
As with Races and Magical Creatures, the deities and exarchs in the world are too numerous to name. However, I will tell you those that are of relevance to this RP and this region.
Thraw is the god of wolves, loyalty and honor. He is a god prominently worshipped in Tarthel.
Alzhudrin is the god of carnage and destruction. His exarch Ghrilok is the patron god of Hobgoblins.
Alsoris is the god of the Sun, and a prominent god in most cities and civilizations that aren’t entirely devoted to a specific deity.
Kliron is the god of silver, and the patron god of silversmiths and silver miners. As could be imagined, he is a prominent god in Dorthol.
N’Lok is the god of manipulation and treachery. Most civilized societies ban his worship, although he does have some cults here and there. The Deathstriker Cult was one such cult, and they managed to go so far through their master’s commands that they destroyed an entire empire.
Lucinis is the goddess of the wilderness and of trees. She is worshipped amongst most Elven communities.
8) Languages (8
Although there are many dozens of languages in the world, only a few are spoken in this region of the world.
Ghoril is the common language and the first language of humans, it was left around the world when the old empire was still in power.
Rathis is a language spoken by Rathen. It is one of the more prominent languages in the region, while at the same time one of the not-so prominent languages in the world.
Davek is a language of the Dwarves. It is the second most common Dwarven language worldwide, while the most common in this region.
Alris is a minor Elven dialect of one of their languages, called Qenor. It’s spoken by the Elves of the area.
Goblis, and its variant Hoblis, are languages spoken by Goblins and Hobgoblins respectively.
9) Important NPCs (9
The important NPCs are the government of the Arcane Order of the Green Tower, although I’m too lazy to create the entire council, Head Librarian, Archmage, etc., so I’ll just be naming those that I feel like naming.
Hareth of the Arcane Order of the Green Tower is the youngest member of the council, only recently. He’s going to also make an appearance in Siege of Dorthol.
Harn of the Arcane Order of the Green Tower is a councilmember that Ferolk suspects of criminal activity.
Archmage Blorik Bloodknife is, as of the current date and time, the only hobgoblin ever to get a position in the Arcane Order of the Green Tower’s government. He sometimes has small violent outbursts, but for the most part is a fair and wise Green Archmage.
Librarian Aghut is the Head Librarian, and actually quite tall for a Halfling. Tall enough that some people mistake him for a short human.
Ferolk is another Apprentice that is being tested this year. He thought that he overheard Harn take bribes from another Wizard, and has only told some of his closest friends. Note that you only know the bad things about Harn if you are a close friend of Ferolk.
Keeper Arkhorit is the current Keeper of Secrets. He is rarely seen, and is believed to be insane. He has never had an apprentice.
10) Rules and Guidelines (10
1. ROBLOX rules are advised, the management of this thread will not be held responsible for any bans or warnings caused on our property.
2. Standard roleplay rules apply (i.e. No being overpowered, no metagaming, etc.).
3. Admins will be chosen throughout the RP, or from those who have RPed in three Arloth threads through to the end. Admins can do all the normal admin-y stuff.
4. I control all NPCs. You just say your character's actions, I'll say how people react.
5. No PC Divinism in this. The only magic accessible by PCs is arcane magic, and that’s only if they’re Apprentices – and the magic will likely come in large amounts as well (Sorry, couldn’t resist mocking rule five of Siege of Dorthol)
6. No being a Goblin or a Hobgoblin without a good reason.
7. Most people know only their first language and one other language. Members of the Arcane Order of the Green Tower tend to know several due to devoting a good part of their lives to studying, although even then it's rare to have one who speaks more than just 3 or 4 languages.
8. You can have as many characters as you can keep track of efficiently. ALL CS's must be of good quality to be accepted.
