Based on an interest check posted on my birthday, which can be found here: forum.roblox.com/Forum/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=180942137. What I'm thinking I'll do is a shorter RP, maybe 30 pages at most, as an introduction to set up the main RP, then the main RP, and then maybe a 20-30 page aftermath where loose ends will be tied up. I posted the interest check a week ago and figured that I'd need to either get something out soon or get stuck in development hell for an eternity, so sorry if this seems a little rushed (written over the course of a mere three hours and only proofread once, albeit after a week of planning), it's only meant to serve as a very basic introduction to the world of the RP.

1) Introduction (1
Sem Bakker, a wealthy Dutch investor and CFO of investment company Bakker en Janssens, was found murdered in the streets of New York City. It was all over the news, with him being only the most recent in a string of wealthy New York businessmen to be murdered in a gruesome manner of the sort. The only difference this time is that it's international news headlines this time, as he's not a New Yorker.
The serial murder case was promoted from the hands of the NYPD. Now the FBI and NYPD of America, in addition to the AIVD of the Netherlands and Interpol, are now all looking into this case in an attempt to find out what happened. Companies owned by these individuals, such as Bakker en Janssens, are also assigning their security to the investigation and hiring private investigators to aid in the case. Journalists, of course, aren't very far behind.
There is little consensus among reporters so far as to the specifics of what's gone on, but what everyone seems to agree on is somewhat gruesome, to say the least. In the past eight months, five businessmen, four of whom live in and operate from New York and all of whom have large financial ties to the city, were murdered by the same method. They all suffered third degree burns covering most of their torso, occasionally other parts of their body as well, with no other indications of a fire around them.
Several other people high up in the hierarchy of Bakker en Janssens told reporters that Bakker grew increasingly paranoid from the time of the first murder even when he was still in the company's headquarters in Tilburg. In spite of this, they say that Bakker suddenly decided that he had some unexpected business to do in New York, and, despite the company urging him not to go, he went anyway. Bram Janssens, the Flemish CEO of B&J, has publicly stated that these stories are false. No similar behavioural changes have been noted in any of the other victims prior to their deaths.

These are here for just in case anyone can't think of an idea for a character; if you have an idea in mind after reading the introduction already, I encourage you to use that instead of those that I suggest here (although it's likely something listed here anyway because this is a pretty exhaustive list of anyone who would be interested in the murder case).
1) Police Officer: A member of the NYPD, FBI or the New York branch of Interpol assigned to the murder. It should be somewhat obvious why they're looking into this.
2) Private Investigator: Whether hired by the company of one of the victims or their families, a PI and their interactions with the authorities can lead to some rather interesting roleplaying scenarios, both in this RP and in the main RP.
3) District Attourneys and ADAs: The guys who'll be doing the prosecution. The reason that they want the investigation to go on should be rather obvious - they want as strong a case as possible.
4) Friends and family: Friends and family of the victims who are growing impatient with the NYPD's lack of ability to find the murderer could, if the situation allows it, become interested enough to investigate the murders on their own. I didn't flesh out the first four victims at all for the sole reason of allowing you guys creative freedom to fill in the blanks if you wanted to do something of this sort. I request that you stick with the friends and family of the native New Yorkers instead of doing something for Sem, as I have some interesting plans for his company that I want to keep secret and I don't want to be butchered.
3) Rules (3
1) I've suddenly become paranoid of something that I stopped caring about for several years, which is that some of these names are the same as those of real people. If that's the case, I apologize in advance; all proper nouns aside from government agencies and some places are intended to refer to fictional companies and people. It's a stupid and irrational fear, I know, but it's there nonetheless.
2) You are your characters, and only your characters. I am literally everything else. I'm running this the same way that I ran Land of Ferinox and Siege of Dorthol; you do your character's actions and nothing else, and I do literally everything else.
3) You're allowed as many characters as you want, and I encourage you to have more than one character as this will be a high-fatality RP. That means that I'll likely kill off anywhere between half and two thirds of the characters over the course of the RP. No complaining if you die.
4) If you join after a significant number of pages, say after five to ten pages, so that you're not behind everyone in terms of evidence collecting and everything I may ask you to take the role of an NPC instead of making a new character altogether, be it the detective's partner or another ADA.
5) This takes place in early January, 2016, and likely won't cover the span of more than a few days, at most a week. All technology is that of last week, and it's the middle of winter in New York.
6) I request that interactions between two different PCs be kept at a minimum when I'm not there to monitor to get the environment to react. That means that, although it would make conversations slow and awkward, it would make things slightly easier for me to manage. I'll try to find times when as many people as possible can be online, though, so there's no need to worry.
