Alright, so a few times in the past I have announced to RP my plans to post five to twelve brand new RPs, sure to be of great interest to everyone here. Those generally didn't go as planned, regardless of how many people expressed their interest in all of them. I've once or twice posted a large "wave" of RPs, with at one stage me attempting to make that a weekly thing before I conjectured that it was simply too many RPs all at once for anyone to keep track of.
However, I've decided to leave it up to you as to how I'm going to be posting these. If you vote Wave, I will try to write all of these as quickly as I can and post them all at once (or as close to it as floodcheck will allow, at least). If you vote Weekly, I'll still try to work on these and complete them quickly, but I will be posting one a week, probably at a regular time. (dot) straw (delete these brackets) poll (dot) me/10167038 is the link to the poll and I encourage you to vote on it.
With that said and done, here are my ideas. I don't want you to say things along the lines of "Do 1 and 5 but not the rest", as it is my goal to make all of them. However, if there is something that you particularly dislike about an RP, I encourage you to tell me which RP it is and what you dislike about it. Likewise, I encourage you to do the same if you really like one of my ideas so that I know what to do more of in the future.
Some of these ideas may seem familiar from that time that I rickrolled everyone. When I rickrolled you guys I was writing brief summaries of some old drafts that I never got around to polishing up, and they are in dire need of not just fixing up but a complete rewrite. Some of these are completely new ideas (as far as I'm aware) and will be written for the first time after this.
The first RP is called Awakening of the Fae, and is apparently rather popular as the poll on the rickroll interest check told me to use that as my rickroll. For those who didn't see the thread I'll explain it here, and even for those who did see the thread you should keep reading this paragraph because I have changed my mind on some things. The concept of this urban fantasy RP is that fairies are real and are living among us, but are either dormant (as in, not doing much of anything) or completely hidden. Then they either wake up or accidentally reveal their existence to the world and an aeons long war will spill out into the human world, between the Seelie court (not exactly good fairies but not really evil either) and the Unseelie court (evil badguy fairies). There are going to be probably a half dozen or so varieties of fairy, some of them exclusive to one side or the other but most having people on both sides of the conflict, and maybe I'll throw in human-usable magic as well or something. The Fairy Queen will be the main antagonist and there will be a plotline, but players can have subplots if they want.
The second RP, which I have yet to think of a good name for, is about a large forest that is the entire world, akin to my old RP Soliraex Desert. It'll be a large, open-world RP where the players can play as humans and various forest-themed races such as elves, satyrs, ents, fairies and we'll probably make up one or two as well. There will be no "main storyline", but players can and will create their own storylines, villains and so forth.
The third RP, called Vampirism, takes place in generic fantasy universe #12345 in which an evil necromancer is raising an undead army to conquer the world. Of course, a party of some of the best and most prolific adventurers was quickly assembled, and they set off on a quest to kill the necromancer. And then there are the necromancer's most powerful weapons - "Vampires", undead monsters that look almost identical to when they were alive but also happen to have all sorts of abilities that regular people don't, and an insatiable appetite for blood. The necromancer killed various important people in the good king's kingdom and raised them as vampires for the perfect time to strike, and all the best heroes who weren't off killing the necromancer have but one goal - find the vampires before they do any serious damage. And then there's the goal of the players, which is to not get caught by those pesky heroes. Yes, I did essentially just copy-paste my earlier pitch for it, but I think I sold it rather well there and if it ain't broke I shouldn't fix it.
The fourth RP, which I think will be called Crime or Criminals or something akin to that, takes place shortly after humans have colonized large portions of the human-only Milky Way Galaxy. It'll be a short enough amount of time that there are still significant gaps in the reach of humanity, but a long enough amount of time for different planets to form their own nationalistic identities. And then a civil war breaks out akin to the revolutionary war, in which the Galactic Empire is trying to stop all of these pesky rebels from being splinter states and the rebels are trying to get free of the tyrannical hand of the Galactic Empire. The players would be smugglers, assassins, minor crime lords, thugs, war profiteers and so forth working for various criminal factions which now strive in the war-torn government.
The fifth RP is going to be called Henchmen. It's going to be a slightly comedic RP about the lives of supervillain henchmen (or maybe James Bond villain henchmen) as they go about their work and try to be not killed by the protagonist or their maniacal employer. If that didn't get you sold on this being a fun idea, think of the shopping lists required for the ingredients for a superlaser, and imagine a bunch of cartoonish henchmen bumbling around a Walmart looking for ten tonnes of steel and so forth. Then imagine being part of that comedic incident and what the potential consequences could be.
The sixth RP is called Pax Americana, and you may have noticed that yesterday I posted a thread about how I thought of two RPs with that name. One of them, I noticed now that I'm more awake, may be a bit too difficult to actually pull off properly and as such I'll be going with the easier one. In 1950s America, as the United States presides over the world and the Cold War is beginning, a whole load of aliens invade. 1950s technology, culture and "perfect society" (as people tend to think of the era retrospectively) put up against flying saucers and other similar cliché alien technology from the Golden Age of sci-fi. In the background could be anything from rockabilly to barbershop music, but thinking about it makes me nostalgic even if it is half a century before my time.
The seventh RP I have in mind is called "Merrie Olde England", but I didn't write it down soon enough and so I forgot about it, but I like the name and the concept and so I'll leave it here to see if anyone wants to collab on something with that name.
Now, with that said and done, the order in which I have written these up here will most certainly not be the order in which I post them (assuming that you guys vote in favour of weekly posting). For instance, Magic Forest will not be posted a week after Awakening of the Fae due to how similar they may outwardly appear, and I'll probably post Awakening of the Fae first and Magic Forest last (so as to give Awakening of the Fae enough time to die because of inactive RPers for me to post another RP about folklore and fairies without being criticized for unoriginality). I'll also likely post the very comedic Henchmen a week after a darker and grittier RP such as Vampirism or Crime. There are other nuances to take into account, but other than those two things I'll largely be posting these in the approximate order that I write them.
All of these are open for collaboration and I am also open to collaboration with almost anyone on almost any topic at almost any time that I am online. Basically I intend to be more of a productive writer and RPer among this community and less of a sarcastic jackass who uses "But I've been here for a long time and I've posted plenty of RPs in the past" as an excuse to interact with you guys primarily via OOC threads.
