I was visibly interested at the mention of the Adventurer's Guild. It sounded like something that would last a lot longer than Castle Cyvler did, and be worth looking into. But unfortunately, I would have to break the bad news first.
I shook my head. It was time to use that somber tone.
"I was afraid you'd ask about that. The Baron was right in the middle of it when everything happened. And with all that happened at the castle, it seems more like a matter of 'did anyone else survive?'"

Sir Therius sighs.
"I see... I wasn't expecting much, I mean if the knights hadn't found him he probably was dead. Even then, the Cyvlers are all good friends of mine. When I arrive at the palace I will need to send a hawk towards the survivors. I know for sure that Selaine will take over as the Cyvler Baron but she's only 17. The family will need to appoint someone to guide her actions for a while. It'll help them to have a chance to figure that out now. Well, now that that's settled, how about you, Zynna? What brings you here to the outskirts of the capital of Thesland?"
Huh? You were at the capital city? Is that what that thing in the distance is?

"I was going to the capital to get in touch with those Adventurer's Guild people, see if they know any more than I do about the whole dragon situation, and if they're planning on doing anything about it. I'm sure I'll find something else to pass the time here, but for now this how I'll start.
"I can't say I've been to the place that much," I continued, "since I wasn't quite planning on doing it too much, but I guess I have no problem starting now. Have any idea how the guild's coming along these days?"

"If all you wanted to do was visit the guild, you could've gone to Alsek's guildhall. It's much closer to Rembes, and that where I visited the guild to check up on things. Anyways, they're in a bit of frenzy. I mean, a fourth great dragon has appeared in Thesland. That hasn't happened since the War of the Blood Gale, and after that Rakasmil retreated back to Valiese so it didn't have too much of a scar. The largest problem is that Suskethmos isn't alone anymore. The day after Rembes a few weird creatures showed up which had abilities similar to his own. They were exceedingly limited versions, but they were still similar. If you want more it may be better to see for yourself. I can escort you into Leusken and to it's guildhall if you would like."

"I really only considered the guild because of Suskethmos, and apparently it's going to be more of a priority now that there seems to be more to deal with. I would definitely appreciate it if you escorted me into the guildhall."

"Of course, but I have a favor to ask. You see, I'm gonna need someone to give a written report on Baron Cyvler's death. You're the only person I've met that was there at the time. After I show you to the guildhall, would you mind visiting the royal palace with me so I have a testimony to provide to the council the Ivelon family will be holding in a few days?"
Hah! Figures. Actually, you went Castle Cyvler to stand witness to an accident. It seems that the more business you get caught up with knights in the more testimonies you're gonna need to give.

This'll probably be the last one I need to give for a long while, hopefully.
"Yeah, that's not a problem. I'll figure out the testimony while we're going there. In the meantime, let's go ahead and have a look at that guild."

"Of course! Thank you," Sir Therius replies.
You saw the palace well before you even see the rest of the city in detail. It set on a hill in the city's center and was built as a mighty tower that loomed over the entire city. On it were many balconies and terraces, as well as open aired rooms. You could not tell why they had it set up like this.
Eventually, you reach the city's gate, where you see a sign that read "Leusken, the Capital of Thesland and Home of the Royal Family of Ivelon." You were stopped at the gate, but a quick word from Sir Therius and the rest of the knights immediately let you through without question or hesitation. You still had no clue exactly what kind of a job that Sir Therius worked, but for it to cause this much leeway it could be easily assumed it was important. The inside of the city was fairly busy. Rather than the heavy military presence that Rembes carried, Leusken's atmosphere was bright and joyous. There were a few shady spots but for the most part the citizens were all happy and content. Eventually, you were led to a large building with a very homey kind of feel to it. There was a sign of a hawk with the words "Adventurer's Guild" below it.
The inside of the Adventurer's guild was pleasant enough. There were wooden tables, a board of sorts and a desk with a man who had the most exasperated look on it, with stair behind him. A look at the board revealed a large picture of something, but it was too far to see, and smaller pictures of other things.
"Well, here it is," Sir Therius says, "the Leusken branch of the Adventurer's Guild and the headquarters for the guild's activities in Thesland. The man at the desk is Urick. He'll answer any questions if you have them. While I'm here, I suppose I should also hire a hawk. They have some at the palace I can use, but I'm sure they must be busy with all that's going on. This seems better."
Sir Therius walks off and start climbing the stairs behind Urick. The desk worker shoots the knight a glance that if it wasn't for a complete state of apathy in his eyes could have interpreted very easily as a glare.

So this is the Adventurer's Guild, huh? Wonder what everyone's up to for the place to be so empty-looking right now.
Well, I've already had my look around, and I bet I know what's on the board, so I'll go and see what the desk worker has to say.
"Excuse me," I begin as I stroll up to the man, "it's Urick, isn't it? Any chance you know what all the guildmembers are doing right now?"

"Their assigned duties I suppose," he replies. "If you're wondering about all of the adventurers the Guild does not consider them guild members. The Guild is only an information gathering and convenience tool for those adventurers, so each branch only employs a few guild member so it can keep it's services running. I suppose most of the adventurers are off with these."
Urick reaches below his desk and pulls out a huge sack of papers. They seemed to be letters judging on how they were all folded.
"Ever since the Beasts of the Savage Night appeared many of the smaller villages are worried for their own safety, so they've sent offers to hire adventurers as protection to the Guild. No, you may not sign on. All of the offers sent to the Leusken branch are now filled up. If you would like I can send a message by hawk to the other branches to see if they have offers still open, but most likely they're also filled and if they are not they will be when you arrive at that branch's location."
The lethargy in his voice is hitting you like a brick wall. You notice that there are stamps on the filled job offers. However, there is a paper that is not stamped set to the side. It has a peculiar little doodle of a woman with brown hair and red eyes. That wasn't all that concerning, however, as it looks like it was drawn by a child.

Jeez, alright then. Guess this wasn't the kind of guild I was expecting it to be. At least I might be able to learn a little more about the situation.
Since there's nothing else that interests me at the moment I'll go ahead and take a look at the paper with the doodle on it. He could have a kid, but I've seen people with worse drawing skills than this so I may as well ask about it.
"Anything special about this drawing in particular?" I ask as I grab it for a closer look.

"Oh, that one's a job offer. Unfortunately, it arrived from the Elael branch yesterday ahead of it's security check so I can't give it to you. Most likely the check will arrive by hawk later today. I can't promise it'll be the most exciting thing, but I can set it to the side if you want to come by later."
The paper reads, in what looks like a child's chicken scratch, "I want a friend. 20,000 gold pieces. Meet me in the village of Feshryn, Laughing Brothers Inn, table in the back corner."

"It looks like it's the only thing I can do right now. I suppose I'll go ahead and give it some thought, and come back if I decide it's worthwhile." I look up at the stairs where Sir Therius went. "Well, if there's nothing else for now, I'll go ahead and see how my friend's doing on getting himself a hawk."
If there's nothing else important to be said, I'll be right upstairs.

"Very well then. Have a nice day."
You head upstairs to find Sir Therius giving a piece of paper to a lady standing in front of about a couple dozen cages with hawks in them.
"That'll be 10 gold," she replies. Sir Therius pulls out his coin purse, a rather heavy looking one, and give her the coins. She moves over to the cages as Sir Therius starts to head over to the stairs.
"Done already?" he asks you. "We can leave now if you want."

"Yeah, I'm pretty much done now," I answer with a nod. "There was surprisingly less stuff than I thought down there, so I might have to take a look around the market or the bar or some other place and see what's going on over there. Are we heading to the palace right after this, or have you still got a little more time to kill before that happens?"

"I'm not surprised. Usually most adventurers just use this place to socialize. There's more stuff here then you'd think, but you should get someone else to tell you about those things," Sir Therius explains as he starts climbing down the stair. "In the first place this guild was made by a man with no hobbies. Anyways, the conference isn't until a few days, so I easily have time. Besides, I need a drink. Today's the first day I have that I can seriously devote an hour to rest. I know a great bar as well. It's a bit pricey but I can pay if you'd like."

I've probably got some money on me right?
"Alright then, let's go ahead and check out the bar right now. I'll pay if I need to." I'll pay if I can. Hopefully the bar will have plenty of interesting people around, but in any case it'll beat sitting around doing nothing in this place.

"Don't worry, I have more than I know what to do with," Sir Therius explains.
You didn't have any money, actually. It occurs to you that O-Lord did mention that there was going to a be a looting system, which is probably why he started you out with nothing, but Suskethmos broke it. So, essentially, you were flat broke. Although, that job offer did promise twenty thousand gold pieces. You're not too sure as to the value of just one coin, though. Your only clue is that is costs 10 pieces to send a message by hawk.
You walk for about ten minutes until you arrive at a cheery looking blue building. Above it's door is a sign that read "Sea Dragon's Pub." A look at the surrounding area shows that it was in a community that looked middle-class at best.
"Here we are," Sir Therius explains. "You'll find one of these in almost any major city in the worldwide. Can't really be surprised by that honestly, not when you look the owner of this place."

Man, I wish I was one of those wizards that knew how to convert their own magic energy into gold. Most of those guys didn't even need jobs with a spell like that. Anyway, pub.
"Yeah, I would've figured any big place would need a tavern to truly complete it," I said as I was looking around. "I'm sure the owner's got his charms, but right now I'd rather like to have a look at the inside of this place and see what they've got inside."

(Sorry, was trying to figure out how I wanted this ext scene to go.)
"Of course," Sir Therius says as he leads you into the pub. Inside were a good number of people, none of which were the wealthy but there were clearly also no one of the lower class. That is, to say, with the exception of one man talking to the bartender. He wears worn out leather armor, with a plated glove on one hand and two straps of leather on the middle and index fingers of his other hands. Judging from the straps, you could tell the man practiced archery, but you cannot tell his level of skill.
"Are you sure you want to waste your money like this?" the bartender asks, giving another mug of ale to the man.
"Eh, I got enough left over," the man shrugs.
"And afterwards?"
"No clue. The Guild don't got no jobs."
"Well, they certainly had them quite a while ago. Where were you then?"
"In a tree. That was rooted on a cliff face."
"How...?"
"Don't ask, that night's still a little foggy," the man smiles.
As you listened on this conversation, a large man steps in front of you and Sir Therius.
"Weapons," he says, holding his hand out. Sir Therius quickly gives the bouncer his sword and shield. The bouncer looks over to you, staring at your bow.

I hand the bouncer my bow without a second thought. I'm pretty sure I still have yet to shoot that thing once in this adventure.
"Looks pleasant enough," I tell Sir Therius. "Well, I'll let you go ahead and buy us those drinks."
