Night approaches, and the mercenaries appear to be setting up camp for the night. A few of them seem to be heading out in search of fire wood. You could join them, or stick around the camp to help set up the tents and strike up some conversations.

You decide it best to stick around the camp, and the mercenaries are certainly happy to have an extra hand in setting up the tents and preparing the fire. Eventually, one of the mercenaries approaches you, and tells you he's found a nice, big tree, then asks you if you'd like to test out your new sword on it.
