[What follows is something stupid that I just thought of after watching the new episode of Arrow about his secret identity. I put no effort into this at all.]
"And now that I have the three of you, Superman's greatest friends, he will of course fall into the trap that I have set for him!" Says Lex Luthor to his hostages, Clark Kent, Lois Lane and Jimmy Olson. "But wait, Clark, why are you... Why are you taking off your shirt and wearing a superman costume underneath?" Lex asks Clark. Clark then takes off his glasses, prompting Lex to ask the most obvious question of all - "Superman! How did you get here, and what did you do with that oaf Clark Kent?"
"Isn't it obvious, Lex?" Jimmy asks. "Clark must have been sick, and so Superman, being the good guy that he is, offered to take his place at the Daily Planet for the day to cover for him! Isn't that right?"
"Uhhh... Yeah, that's what this is, definitely," Superman says in response.
"That would explain a lot!" Lois says. "If Clark is sick, that explains why he ran off last night at around the same time as you stopped that bank robbery, Superman! Oh, I do hope that he's alright!"
"This makes perfect sense," Lex Luthor says.
