The sailor looks onto the water of the Svarthan Sea from the side of ship, grinning. A thick curtain of fog covers the skies in these parts, but the water itself is quite transparent. And it is black. Black, like an endless void. Think the color of the stuff that you find in the oven when your mother tries a new recipe. However, the sailors are brave, and have had a bit too much rum. They sing, gleefully: “Here’s to Rekros! God of Beer! God of Rum! God of all that’s fun! Here’s to Ytix! God of the Wind! God of the Air! Without him, how could we bare!? Here’s to Solemis! God of the Ocean! God of the Sea! Without him there is no glee!” The sailors all laugh and cheer as a very, very long entity swims under the ship. “Another- hic!- one!”, one sailor bellows. “Oh, a drop of Solemis’ drink wouldn’t do us any harm, Oh, a drop of Solemis’ drink wouldn’t do us any harm, Oh, a drop of Solemis’ drink wouldn’t do us any harm, An’ we’ll all row on behind! So we’ll ro-o-ow the old ship along! An’ we’ll row the golden ship alo-” Before the sailors can continue, a giant Logdýr-- a giant sea worm-- erupts out of the water. In a matter of seconds, it plunges into the ship, reducing it to pieces. The cries of the maimed sailors are drowned out by the sound of the creature returning to the water. There are no survivors.
