(Modern seemed right... Right? Not sci-fi, because I have zero intentions of 'super tech'. That said, ignore the giant facial-scanning airships in the images...)
(Sorry Vam, decided to just make it myself.)
(I intend for this to be open, though I may separate threads by faction depending upon participation or, more likely, just make it a bloody ISRP for someone.)
1) Plot/Intro:
The United States of America has always prided itself in trying to be the example and police of the world, even if only we saw ourselves this way. Come 2001 and the start of the 'War on Terror,' the States were forever changed.
Since the mid 70's, North Korea's technology was strides ahead of our own; Cellphones, electronic entertainment, you name it, and we all too happily gobbled it up. Come 21st century as their ingenuity stretched into the areas of weaponry and military tech, we were surpassed once more.
Looking for any way to gain superiority in the Middle East, the United States began drastically raising it's military spending, eagerly buying any piece of equipment they would sell us... Just to gain an edge.
Unbeknownst to us, every purchased piece of North Korean tech had a backdoor, and when our debt to them reached beyond $20 trillion in 2017, they took action. With the single flip of a switch, our military was shut off. Jets plummeted from the skies, ships dropped anchor and stopped moving... And the Korean invasion began.
As Korea landed upon our shores, we had naught but our rifles left to respond with, and so, the United States fell that same year. Our government was destroyed, our cities desecrated, and our homes... Occupied. Under the guise of a fiscal mentor and protector, the American people are now slaves to the tyranny of North Korea.
By the year 2021, Chicago is one of many large-population cities of the former US to enter a lockdown state due to bloody conflicts of resistance; Our buildings walled together, LAVs and tanks patrolling our streets, and citizens being brutalized by soldiers in their own homes.
America may have fallen, but her people still breath. And in Chicago... The Resistance is alive and well.
Long live the Resistance! Long live the United States of America!
2) Factions:
KPA/Norks - Korean People's Army, referred to as 'Norks' by most Resistance fighters.
The Resistance - Anyone willing to pick up a gun against North Korean occupiers. Often criticized by citizens as bringing needless violence into the streets.
Collaborators - Citizens of Chicago whom still hold jobs working directly for the KPA. Anywhere from construction up to Anti-Resistance espionage.
Citizens - The abused and helpless mass of Chicago population not fitting in any category above.
3) Zones: Since occupation, sections of Chicago have been categorized as either Green, Red or Yellow Zones, described below;
Red Zones - Areas of Chicago heavily damaged either by the war, or afterwards due to Resistance skirmishes. Anyone spotted in a Red Zone is shot on sight, though that doesn't stop citizens from scavaging what they can from the wreckage.
Yellow Zones - Mass population and market areas, stocked with what few supplies can be scavaged.
Green Zone - VIP and Collaborater population area, heavily guarded. No one gets in or out without heavy scrutiny.
