i wasnt taught common core in grade school, but one highschool kicked in it was like a big middlefinger down my bung hole.

I don't think I've ever had to use common core, but my little brother and sister (though they are in 4th grade) are using it. My math teachers have always worked a problem out by them selves infront of the class and then afterwards told us to do it ourselves. It seems to work for me.

the main thing to understand is, it makes it so you might get the answer right more with common core then traditional methods, but you'll also put in like 9x the work. if your smart, then do the work the way that works best, but if your dumb you should probably put in the extra 7 hours of work to complete that problem.
