You exit the tavern. The chanting you heard earlier is louder than before. It seems to be coming from much deeper down the cavern

Follow the chanting! Chanting means new slaves for the blood God. Make sure to keep my sword in hand, with people like the bartender as citizens you never know when you'll need to show some power.

You follow the chanting through a long corridor. This corridor is dark, with the only light being from the same gems that lit the stairs. Eventually the the chanting reaches it's climax of volume, and you find yourself looking into a large room full of people. The only light is from the same gems, but in this room there are a number of them gathered in the center. You can hear the chanting clearly now.
"PRAISE THE DEAD!" They all shout
"PRAISE THE DEAD!"
"PRAISE THE DEAD!"
"PRAISE THE DEAD!"
And then, silence
[The Pale One has awoken]

There is shouting and cheering as a large, pale creature rises from the gems in the center of the room. It has no hair, and looking up into it's eyes is like staring directly into the abyss. It towers over you, and everyone else in the room
