Standing brightly in the sun was the Payosid one of last remnants of the old world on this little desert planet of Mars.
White marble and gold streaks cover the building with such glory, it's nearly impossible not to stare at it, and today everyone would see it.
" Ready Bish- I mean Payos Harold?"
Harold laughed and smiled
"Almost, I just have to fix my hat but I must tell you I'm not no longer a bishop. "
Harold was a imposing yet friendly figure, with graying hair with streaks of brown, and a loud booming voice, and being near six feet and a half tall.
The Speaker had a chuckle
" You know a never been good with titles." He said
" It's quite alright, although I wish to know has everyone came to the coronation?" Harold asked
The Speaker shook his head and sighed.
" Apparently the Emperor Marcus wasn't bluffing, not a single member of his court has came." You could hear the venom in the Speakers voice.
" Is he still... Christian? " Harold looked around before saying that word unsure how to pronounce it.
" I believe so, trying to keep that dead religion alive." The Speaker said angrily.
"Now, now my friend today is suppose to be an celebration save the anger for tomorrow." Harold tried to calm him
" Alright Harold I will try. "The Speaker said in a quieter voice
" Great, now while I get ready you should begin the coronation." Harold commanded
"Understood Payos." The Speaker said
The Speaker walked outside where most of the festivities would be held, he glanced towards the front seeing all the kings and dukes anxiously waiting for their dear Payos.
He also looked to the back and saw hundreds of commoners packed in like sardines chatting wildly.
Everyone is ready, the Speakers thought.
" Friends, allies and fellow Martians I am the most thankful that each and everyone of you were able to join us on this day. I remember the deep sadness on the day the late Payos Issac finally fell, and today all I see is hope and hope is a truly beautiful thing."
The speaker took a deep breath for dramatic effect, repeating the words many speakers before him had also had the honor of saying.
" While now Payos Issac rests with Jupiter, we shall continue on and hope to build on what he made, and never is the death of a Payos taken lightly. Hell Duke Redstone and Duke Polis had to stop trying to kill each other for today."
The crowd laughed even the two dudes who were actually sitting next to each other for this event.
" But I believe that we will be even stronger after this lost, my fellow Martians allow me to welcome to you. The young Payos Harold."
Trumpets boomed and drums began to play with an intense tenacity, a few servants ran out throwing gold flakes and roses across the street as Harold walked along it.
Harold was wearing the formal wear of all the Payos before him, an a colorful robe adorned with jewels, and over it he wore a coat made of rare white tiger fur.
He walked up into the stage the Speaker was on and took the microphone from him.
The music stopped and people cheered for the new Payos.
Harold tried to silence them but they only kept on cheering until the Speaker took the microphone and yelled into it.
" Quiet! The Payos is speaking!"
He gave the microphone back to Harold and stepped aside.
" Hello everyone! I can't tell you how honored and happy I am to be here today. I remember when Issac announced I would be his new heir and I would say that was the accord happiest day of my life. I would say that this is the best day I have ever had. "
People began to cheer again much to the Speaker's annoyance.
" You know Issac always told me the most valuable quality you could have was honesty, and honestly this is all I plan to say. "
Harold gave the microphone back to the Speaker who shook his head chuckling.
" Now you can cheer. Three cheers for the new Payos Harold!"
They cheered three times more and everyone went to partake in the delicious foods prepared.
"Speaker lead me to the cake, I call first dibs." Harold ordered
"Been Payos for a few hours and your already giving out holy orders." The speaker mused
Harold smirked as he was given a large slice of chocolate cake with a bright purple frosting, although as soon as he tried taking his first bite someone started talking to him.
"Greetings Payos! It's a honor to meet you." Said the man
" Same to you, are you enjoying the party?" The Payos asked
" Of course! Allow me to introduce myself, I am the Grand Duke Belfort ." Belfort bowed
Harold looked at the man, his eyes failing him as usual making the man look like a younger version of himself just blurrier.
"Well it's nice to meet you Mr.Belfort, I wish the best of luck to your house." Harold bowed back to him.
" I actually want to speak to you about my house." Belfort disclosed
" Oh really? " Harold asked
Please don't be politics, Harold thought to himself.
" I was thinking about an alliance actually, you know Payos Marcus was planning on with me."
Harold sighed and shook his head.
" I am not my predecessor. Now don't get me wrong I loved Payos Issac, but I feel he got too
involved with the kingdoms."
"I see what you mean, but this will be a beneficial situation for the two of us. I mean despite your power you lack a true army." Belfort tried to coax him
Harold stood up showing his full height and glared at the man.
" All of Mars is my army. Mars the God of War protects all under him and destroys all away from him." Harold's voice sounded intimidating then he went to his usual tone.
"I am flattered by your offer but I will not be accepting any alliances and it's that simple."
Belfort sputtered and grumbled but he soon noticed that he was making a scene and walked away.
Harold noticed that a few nobles seemed to move away from him after he refused Belfort's proposal.
"Oh Speaker?"
His Speaker sighed
"Dear Payos I'm trying to eat." The Speaker whined
" You can eat in a few minutes, but can we discuss something?" Harold's voice seemed impatient
"Of course Harold, what's going on?" the Speaker asked
" People are giving me dirty looks just because I refused a alliance. Makes me uncomfortable." Harold said quietly
" Well you see Payos, a lot of nobles come here in hopes of gaining some influence from the new Payos. " the Speaker admitted
" This is ... Bothersome, but I shouldn't worry they're still my vassals and under Mars will. My point about the army still stands."
The speaker swallowed a lump in his throat and stumbled along his words.
" Actually they are only required to fight for you if an heretic invades."
Harold fumed and had to control his voice.
" Why am I first hearing of this?!"
" Well I wasn't aware that you weren't going to get involved with the dukes. I didn't think these laws needed mentioning in the debrief."
A vein started to pop on Harold's forehead in anger, and he lost control of his voice.
" Here's an holy order of the Payos! All loyal followers to Jupiter is my vassal! If you are not loyal leave now before I lose my patience."
A wave of silence went through the party.
