In the early ages, the Order of the Mithril Magi helped the governments across the Earth. They worked in secrecy and are the truth behind the myths like the Illuminati and the Free Mason's Guild. In 2031, Michael Bloomberg decided to fund a project called Skycity. It was a project thought up by SpaceX to create an antigravitational chunk of Earth and create a city on top of it. Although secretly, the Order was pulling Bloomberg's strings. They wanted to use SpaceX's Skycity to test out how modern society would react to a collected assortment of scenarios, ranging from a nuclear power plant meltdown contaminating ~30% of the island to an open AI revolt. In 2040, after Bloomberg died (2038), his daughter, Emma Bloomberg, took over Bloomberg L.P. and finished the funding on Skycity. On November 14, 2040, Skycity was officially finished and open to inhabit. The first condos and apartments ranged anywhere from $300k USD to $1mil USD. The transportation from Mainland to Skycity was via a SkyShuttle; a shuttle able to carry 16 people at a time utilizing atmospheric thrusters and fans to propel itself upwards, the average ticket costs about $35 USD. The best part about Skycity is its' self-sustainability. With every building being able to produce its own electricity via solar panels, it leaves up a large portion of land for clean, nuclear energy and farms.
A railing was placed along the entirety of Skycity to ensure that suicides and stray traffic wouldn't end up plummeting to their death hundreds of feet above the ground. The city government regularly put police patrols around high-traffic areas as well as increased communications between airlines and the Skycity airspace to ensure that head-on collisions did not happen. On May 14, 2041, the Martha Nuclear Power Plant meltdown that irradiated the surrounding farmland and water. Filtration teams equipped with hazmat suits began to attempt to get rid of the radiation in the water and soil. Although, this was what the Order had put into place. They overloaded the nuclear reactor which caused the meltdown.
Nonetheless, the Order is always watching but the population is blissfully unaware.
