In the post-Brexit United Kingdom, Northern Ireland has seceded from the United Kingdom after a second referendum. Meanwhile, the Royal Family of England declares that the entirety of the British Commonwealths will unite under the Union Jack and reclaim Ireland. A British campaign through Scotland into Ireland, the Irish are pushed back substantially. Before the end of 2019, Ireland's forced entirely into the United Kingdom.
Back in the Americas, the United States is ramping up for war as the Union of Latin Powers successfully created between Mexico, Brazil, Argentina and all the smaller, less-powerful countries in Latin America. NATO is called into action as UN sanctions are placed heavily on the ULP. On August 14th, 2021, the United Latin Powers attack the United States from Florida, Texas, and Arizona. During this time, a swift takeover of Cuba put into action. Raúl Castro eventually was assassinated, and a provisional minister replaces him in place during the Latin-American war. The United States responds furiously, the industrial and economic might that America possesses that the world got a glimpse of in World War II, is now reawakened. Brasilia then suffered from an American nuclear attack in November 2021.

The Greater Federation of Asia invades Alaska March 12th, 2022. World War 3 is waged for thirty-two years until the Stand of Moscow, where Euro-American forces are pursuing the remaining Asian leaders in the Kremlin. The Grand Muslim Kingdom was destroyed in 2032 when the Americans took over Mecca and Jerusalem, destroying both mosques. After this, the combined European and American forces gathered up all of the Muslims and slaughtered them. They sent the packaged human meat over to Africa. The reason why is two years later after the Battle of Amsterdam where General Kireyev Igorevich and Commander Zhou Yingpei's forces were defeated by the Europeans, killing two of the best leaders in the Greater Federation of Asia.
When the Americans and Europeans reached the doors of the Kremlin, the failsafe for the ultimate defense of Russia was activated, nuclear holocaust. The Russian nuclear warheads were launched, destroying every place and country in their path. Then America, France, and the United Kingdom released their nukes as well. Killing two million soldiers in Moscow.
There were still millions of survivors, spread throughout the world, though. In Greenland, the Robin Enclave was still prospering. And the Global Seed Vault was untouched. A pilgrimage from Greenland to Svalbard was arranged to collect a good amount of seeds and start agriculture in underground farms in Greenland (that the United States and Denmark had been funding). So with the world mostly destroyed, and the world scattered, there's free reign to explore.
You were on a boat from the Boot to Ebony Island; home of the Bear God. You were captured by fanatics on your way across the Alps and were dragged along with them. Ebony Island, from what you've heard onboard, was an infrastructure-based island, with it exporting coal and iron across the Italian Empire in late 3021. Ebony Island is renowned for the ebony bear figurines carved out by the monks at Whitebear Temple on the Earthwolf mountain range; this is the place you are going to. You'll transform from an "Afflicted" to a "Servant of Karaon, the Bear God". It isn't all that bad, to be honest, fed three times a day, there's a shower, and you have a bed and a small collection of textbooks.
Skill Tree:
The Skill Tree on Ebony Island can be accessed through meditation and sleep. During your adventures on the overgrown urban, you will face many challenges and skill checks (see "Skill Checks"). You can earn experience points by successfully doing skill checks or persevere through challenges and such. Also completing missions tasked to you by NPCs will give you experience as well as other bonuses. Not only will your character be able to complete more tasks and functions as they gradually level up, but you will also be able to notice physical and mental breakthroughs as they progress throughout the skill tree. There are four main branches of the skill tree; Tradesmanship, Psyche, Corporeal, and Clairvoyance. There are multiple smaller branches of the skill tree such as Charisma, Apothecaries' Charm, Duelist, etc.
Skill Checks:
Skill Checks are random things that will happen during your time throughout Ebony Island. These skill checks could include opening a chest using a lockpick or successfully parrying an attack from an object. It could even be as simple as adding in the correct seasoning for your lasagna while you're cooking. Skill checks will never be announced but usually appear in a format like this;
A wild hound has pounced on you and is ripping at your arm. What do you do?
A. Try to push the hound off.
B. Punch the dog in the face.
C. Grab the knife from your boot and stab the hound.
In this scenario, if you picked either A, B, or C, you'd come out with the corresponding result. The answer to come out the most successful depends on your multiple skills. If you successfully pass a skill check, you'll earn an amount of experience depending on the action. Although, if you fail a critical skill check like the one above, you'll have another chance but the choices will be different, and the possibilities of success will be slimmer. But don't worry, most skill checks won't cause any permanent damage to your character or your playthrough.
Geography of Ebony Island:
The geography of Ebony island is rather simple. It's mostly flat aside from the mountain ranges, jungles, and forests. The Italian infrastructure that was left behind includes a power plant, water treatment plant, a small city, multiple warehouses, a quarry, an oil field, and a subway that spans from the city to the power plant and the quarry. The total land mass of Ebony Island 1,323km2, which is almost the same size as New York City. Ebony Island is located in the Mediterranean, southeast of Malta. The approximate population of Ebony Island is anywhere from 8,000-10,000. The fanatics have control over most of northern Ebony Island and have installed stupas around the north. There are farming villages and castles and small towns spread around Ebony Island. Darenby Castle is towards the center of Ebony Island, and it is ruled by Beowulf and his army. The fauna consists of many horses, some elephants, deer, boars, bears (of course), mountain lions, and pheasants, as well as tuna, koi, and crabs.
