I don't mind the fact that fallacies are a thing, but I despise the way people use them. It's an excuse for lazy people to still sound smart while they brush it off their shoulder. It's not even a solid argument half the time. A lot of fallacies are used in a way that basically tells you "you're wrong because you're wrong," never giving any solid reasons as to why you are wrong.
There are other fallacies where the way you obtained the information is in fault. People mistakenly use these fallacies to "prove" the other person wrong, though how you got it does not always affect the truth value of the statement.
Another problem I have with this is that people expect "smart" people to automatically know what they're talking about when they nention a fallacy, even though it has been shown multiple times that memorization does not measure how genius you are.
Not only that, but you can make a fallacy about virtually anything, as long as your logic is twisted enough. Give it a convincing name, and bam. You sound smart, the person is probably unfamiliar with fallacies like most of the world, and you have an excuse to brush an argument off your shoulder as if it were a pesky fly.
*tosses a couple copper coins in the air* Of course, that's just my two cents.

So you're basically describing the fallacy fallacy?

So you're basically describing the fallacy fallacy? I don't know, and I don't care. Naming fallacies is the lazy way out of proving someone/thing wrong; common sense is much more useful.

So you're basically describing the fallacy fallacy? Yes, that was the fallacy fallacy. And possibly the fallacy fallacy fallacy, if that's even a thing. It's hard to tell what I was trying to say because I was talking about something I hardly knew anything about. Unfortunately, I'm finding a lot of that.

On the bright side, I now know enough to know that I knew nothing!
