I'm sorry, but those complaining about the topic are idiots. The point of a writing contest isn't to write exactly what you want, it's to see how well you can adapt your preferred writing style/genre to fit the contest. I consider modern to be a weakness for me, but I'm getting tempted to write something up just in spite. The topic dissuades me from attempting to right anything because I find it boring and uninteresting. |

That's why I can do a writing contest a week as well - That way someone can't spend a year or two writing something and submit that for this week's contest. |

are you seriously telling me that you are to trying to prepare us for college wtf
I mean no one's written any stories yet
i've written one half way but it's not even about a "double-life of a corporate executive" anymore because there's like two stories that can be written up because it's so specific
maybe i could write a silly one
but 4000 words is too long to keep even my interest in my own story

Two years later and I haven't grown as a person in the slightest. Have you gotten taller? That counts as growing. Also, I'm pretty sure you've grown as a person aside from literal growth or not. You've certainly toned it down a lot on the ego act, and overall you seem calmer and more mature than I remember you being back when I first joined. Of course, that was more than two years ago, but I don't remember how exactly you were two years ago and it's much easier to just do an overall comparison. But, y'know, you were probably just talking about the writing thing, so I'll stop here. |
