I'm somewhat inclined to believe that people living from or in England would have a more correct form of the English language, for reasons that should be rather obvious.

In that sense, someone who can manage to speak Old Enligh (no, not that Middle English crap) could look at all of us and say we're using the language wrong.

Yes, they probably do, but I'm living in the USA. When in Rome, do as the Romans do. (Even if they thought gladiators being killed by lions was the idea of a fun time.)

Technically Old English is a different language entirely and is just the linguistic ancestor of Middle English, which in turn is the linguistic ancestor of modern English. Old English is a member of the West Germanic family of languages, and is rather similar to Proto-West Germanic.

im somewhat inclined to believe that people living from or in italy would have a more correct understanding of Christianity, for reasons that should be rather obvious. im somewhat inclined to believe that people living from or in japan would have a more correct understanding of video games, for reasons that should be rather obvious. The reasons which I had implied for English people speaking English do not translate to either of the two examples which you have stated. Allow me to elaborate, for you clearly do not comprehend this at the moment. The main authority for the English language is Oxford University, and in particular their dictionaries. The English people speak English as popularized by Oxford, while Americans typically shy away from doing so. Therefore, the English are more correct in their linguistic usage than Americans. The main authority for the Catholic branch of Christianity is located in the Vatican, which is part of Italy in all but name and taxes. However, as the religious scripture used by the Catholics is universal and is used to the same extant in France and Spain as it is in Italy, it is arguable that those two nations have just as much collective general expertise in Catholicism as Italy does. However, you forgot to take the Orthodox church into account, and you completely forgot about Protestantism. Video games were developed at roughly the same time in many parts of the world, although generally America and Japan. In general, Japan makes better games than America, but that could be for a variety of reasons or just coincidence. And yes, people in Japan and Korea are often better at video games than those of us residing in or originating from western countries, although the reasons are different than that which I have attested to English people speaking English better. I sincerely hope that this has helped you comprehend my reasoning. If it hasn't, please tell me what parts of it you don't understand and I shall elaborate.

tim i know that other countries have as much understanding as italy
but english is not spoken in the correct way anywhere
people in america were grown learning different spellings, likely due to the poor american education system teaching the people that could afford educations incorrect spellings for the time, and over time the spellings colour, honour, armour, civilisation, etc. vanished from the american writings, replaced with color, honor, armor, and civilization. it's just a matter of how people grew up in different areas.

You adequately explained why Americans are unable to speak English properly, but what of those in other English speaking countries, who speak a very different language than American English?

tim, americans are weird, and there's no point asking why. everyone else users meters, centimeters, etc., but americans use inches, feet, miles, etc. for whatever reason.
asking why they're weird is like asking why nazi's were sick and horrible.

Speaking of which; Why in the hell do we call ours the "Standard System of Measurement" when the Metric System would be more easily considered standard anywhere except America? Like I said, I'm pretty sure we do things differently just to be different.

Those are terms that were created by and currently administered by a very specific organisation that requests their spelling to be as I have stated it (not to mention that that spelling makes much more sense, if you know about the English word construction rules).

I've seen "imperial", "customary", "American", "that one that the stupid Yanks use" and many more, but "standard" is one that I've never seen and that makes absolutely no fucking sense, which is probably why I've never seen it used.

The only reason I can think of is that you guys have simply stopped giving me new counterarguments and I've already refuted all those which you've given me, making this less of a debate and more of a precursor to a flamewar or something of the sort.

It's called a hypothetical scenario. And if "AMERICAN SPELLING" is justification to spell things incorrectly, you're going to be Brim from now onwards and I'll justify it as "Birm doesn't appear in the dictionary; Brim does".

Why should we give you counterarguments when you refuse to listen to and consider them? You have nothing to gain from defending your point any longer, and the only reason I can think of why you're doing it is to try and look smart, but you are failing miserably. The only thing you're achieving is making yourself look like an absolute prick.
