The boy stood on the streets, yelling off the top of his lungs, "Headlines! Headlines! Murder investigation continues! Police department has called for new members!"
You decide to purchase a newspaper from the boy. It was a case you had been following.

Murder Investigation Grows Intense! New Detectives Called From Neighboring Cities! Can The Case Of The Jacques Street Murder Be Solved!?
You continued reading. At first, the newspaper spoon fed you information you already knew. New York City, year 1964, day January 29th. The location is a small, virtually unheard of street named Jacques Street. There lies a small, rundown apartment building named the Yorky New Apartments, containing a total of ten small apartments, five with two rooms, four with three, and one with four. Inside the apartment labelled #8 lived a man named Jake Wells. He was only staying there temporarily, a separation from his wife. On that night, however, they found his body a brutally mutilated corpse. Thus was only the beginning of the case of the Jacques Street Murder. Since then, there has been a total of six identical murders, including Jake Wells, each not bearing a single connection to any of the other murders. Each of them appearing to be virtually committed by a ghost. And now, it appears they've even increased the force.
But not all hope is lost, you see. You are not a simple simple citizen of New York. You work for a group called the Gossipers. They're kind of like consultants for cases like these, and you know they have the ability to solve this case. When they want in on a case, they get in, and that is why you're walking out now. You're to be the representative for the Gossipers for this case. You will aid whomever contacts you in solving the case, backed by the almost impossible information network provided to you. Your goal is not to work for fame, but to solve this case before 6 grows into 7, and 7 into 8.
The case is now in your hands, gossiper. Good luck.
Plot
Simple: Solve the case I throw at you, and then it's onto another case and another until we get bored. Anything big and elaborate, you ask? I don't really intend that. We'll see where this goes first.
Who are the Gossipers?
The Gossipers are a secretive group of civilians who provide anonymous tips to the police department, in some cases even assisting them directly. No one quite knows how the Gossipers started, or when for that matter, what they do know is that to join they receive an invite letter with no name or return address and meet with a contact, also known as their "Father". The new member, known as the Father's "Son" doesn't know many other members beyond the Father, and some of his "Brothers", the other Sons of the Father, at the Father's discretion. You have no idea how they select new Sons for the Gossipers, but you think it has something to do with their vast information network, one almost limitless in it's scope. Some who know about the Gossipers say that the department should just hire them, but to you, a Son of the group, it's just rubbish. One of the most efficient parts of the group is it's independence.
The Gossipers don't work on every case, and they aren't contacted and rarely even wanted by the police department. They somehow know about the cases, possibly a mole in the department, and they casually choose what they want to work on by sending a flyer to the detectives working on the case. A flyer looks like this:

This tells the name of the contact, and the location to find the contact. Time is not necessary, it's never far from where you live, and your Father contacts you when they're on their way. You can identify them by whether or not they're wearing the items on the flyer, and you can check by asking them a question, and receiving the right answer, provided on the bottom of the flyer. The flyer sent for this case will be told when your thread begins, alongside the information you already have and the information you don't have.
