I keep getting the notification that flash isn't up to date, and through Google I learned it was actually Chrome that needed to be updated. I tried to update and I got the "Updates disabled by administrator" message, and learned how to fix that by going to regedit and changing a value on the updatedefault thing. Upon doing this I got the message "Update failed (error: 7)An error occurred while checking for updates: Egads! Installation failed. Please try again. Error code = 0x00000000." when trying to update Chrome. It also wouldn't let me open a website or click on bookmarked pages, so I had to change the value back. I understand that the flash update is related to a vulnerability in the system that leaves it open to exploits, and I was really hoping someone with a more extensive knowledge of computers could help me fix this, and quickly.

Uhhh
When people give you a security update, install it, don't ask questions.
Unless you have suspicions that it isn't legit like sur.ly that does fake updates to give you viruses and stuff.
I got it too, so chances are unless BC(or another website we coincidentally both visit) has been infected by sur.ly(which I really, really hope it hasn't) you should be good to update flash.

I'm getting it too, so by all chances it's safe. And things like sur.ly can infect anything anywhere at any time, and sur.ly in particular is subtle unless you check out the link to a place before you go there. sur.ly will always have you swing by its home page before sending you to your destination.

If you're getting that orange flash message at the top, click update and it will take you to a page where it instructs you on how to update Chrome and Flash. It also has a download you can use to check for programs that are interfering with Chrome. I did it and apparently I don't have any programs that are blocking it.

I got a flash update the other day and it worked correctly for me. Then again, I already have so many damned viruses I honestly can't tell if I got another. I have three antiviruses that do nothing but act as distractions almost as bad as that of the viruses that they're supposed to be getting rid of.

Try HitmanPro It's paid only, but they have a month-long trial that comes with all the features that should be able to get rid of more viruses than any of the others like Malwarebytes or Avast or others. In my opinion, Malwarebytes is the only anti-malware worth having because the other free ones are all either nosy or useless.

I have a subscription to Norton, and I'm not allowed to download any others, sadly.

No. I am not going to download another antivirus, especially if it immediately proceeds to bitch about "I want more money". That's why I uninstalled fucking Norton and I'm trying to deal with the other viruses manually. (I already got rid of ad-donkey and delta-homes manually without an antivirus helping, now I just need to get rid of stamplive, malwarebytes and quite a few others).

Eh, after having it for about six months I've begun to grow accustomed to it and I'm no longer annoyed at the redirects very much, but I'll try it anyway.
