I found a fragment of a four-year-old RP that I had intended to post after Siege of Dorthol concluded in my OneNote folders, which I thought was worth sharing. It takes place in a different part of the world of Arloth than Siege of Dorthol, and about twenty years later. I would have posted and run it concurrently with the sequel to Siege of Dorthol (which would have been called the Book of Hilorik). I completely forgot that this existed until I rediscovered today.
Hello, welcome to the fifth installment of Arloth, but the first one in this region. This is sort of a sequel to Siege of Dorthol, the link to which is here: www.roblox.com/Forum/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=128066101. Anyway, because this is the first one in this region, I guess that means that all of you will have to read through this wordwall, even if you've participated in past Arloth threads anyway! Yay for reading! Yay for wordwalls! Yay for recurring NPCs! Wait, did I say the last part out loud?

4) Council of Light
1) Storyline (1
Twenty Four years ago, at exactly midyear the year 300 AFG, a storm started. It was the worst storm that history has known, tearing apart several villages and constantly darkening the sky, allowing very little sunlight through the clouds that attacked from overhead. The storm kept raging on and on for the twenty-four years up until the present day.
However, a traveler from an unknown land has arrived and has begun spreading word of an artifact known as the Flute of Bievis, which he believes to be nearby to here. In fact, he says that he has already attempted to retake the flute, but that there was powerful warding protecting it from him
The rumors have spread far and wide, all across the region, and they have caused the Barony of Visil and the Kingdom of Friediv to go to war over which kingdom shall remain safe from the storm.
The generally detached organization known as the Council of Light, the organization of the seven most powerful Arcanists in this region, has started searching for this mysterious traveler about a week ago, to question him about the legend. At first, the traveler was quite friendly with them, although he refused to give his name. Then, when the Council accused him of lying and theft to start a war, this man challenged the entire council to a duel of Arcane prowess. At first, they thought that he may have been crazy, although when he won the fight within minutes, they recognized him as a powerful Arcanist even more powerful than they.
After taking over the council, the stranger continued to travel from place to place. Due to how many powerful people want to find and kill him he constantly has to dodge mercenaries and the occasional army, and to every village that he has gone he has left little but destruction and despair.
2) Barony of Visil (2
The Barony of Visil was founded by Baron Klexorn Visil, a general in Ghoril's military during the reign of its first king, over eight hundred years ago. While he gave most of the land he conquered in the name of his empire to his king and his people, they all insisted he keep some land for he and his family.
And so Visil did keep some of the land he conquered to himself. And he, and his descendants, governed over the land until the Deathstriker War. During the Deathstriker War, the sole descendant of Klexorn Visil was manipulated by his advisor, who happened to be a servant of N'Lok, into throwing all his friends into the prisons, and the Baron grew paranoid.
He believed that the only ally that he had was his advisor and the gods he worshipped, and that those who served under him - Generals, soldiers, servants, anyone else - Were just there to plot together against him. By the time some people found out about the Deathstriker Cult, he was too far in his delusions to accept anyone's truth but that of his advisor and himself.
And then, when his few surviving friends went against the manipulator, he lashed out at them and attempted to kill them, drawing on the power of the gods. But the gods would not answer his calls, and were ashamed that a man of formerly such good virtues could be filled with so many vices.
So when the Baron was finally captured, he turned away from the gods and to another source of worship for his power. It is unknown who he began worshipping, but whoever it was had a large supply of dark power, and allowed the Baron to escape his prison.
The Old Baron's name was lost to time, and for a while it was believed to be taboo to speak it anyway within the Barony of Visil. The barony managed to keep its name anyway, for one of the Old Baron's closest friend changed his own name to Visil to keep the Barony alive, both to honor the memory of his friend and in prayer that the Empire of Ghoril has survived.
The Barony of Visil in modern-day is led by the descendants of the Old Baron's friend, who now go by the name Visil anyway. The government is simply that one king rules the Barony, with primogeniture succession to prevent any chaos.
The Barony is typically considered a nice place to live, with large walls to protect it from invaders and a strong militaristic force to get rid of any crime before it becomes a problem.
However, they tend to be at odds with the Kingdom of Friediv, occasionally skirmishing over their history and not letting go of the past easily.
3) Kingdom of Friediv (3
The Kingdom of Friediv, much like the Barony of Visil, was founded during the early days of the empire of Ghoril. The name of the founder of this kingdom was lost to the unforgiving, unrelenting grip of time, although it is known that he was of the house of Friediv.
The descendants of this vassal of Ghoril ruled wisely and fairly and justly, as could have been expected for the empire of Ghoril.
During the Deathstriker War, the Kingdom was almost destroyed, were it not for a powerful Arcanist who decided to take the time to save his kingdom. This Arcanist has decided never to reveal his name, and speculation has arisen that the mysterious Traveler is the ancient Arcane Hero.
Modern-day Friediv is a nice place to live, deriving it's wealth mainly from trading and Arcane studying, although they hire any Alchemists they can find to help the kingdom. It is typically considered a nice place to live, as with Visil, due to the relative comfort that the people can afford to live in, though there are frequently thieves on the roads between cities, meaning that successful merchants must either be Arcanists or Alchemists, or have a few caravan-guards to help transport the goods in the event of an attack.
Their relations with most other kingdoms are good, however, they perceived the current Barony of Visil an abomination of sorts, for two reasons - They believe that the manipulative advisor to the Old Baron managed to manipulate the entire city-state, and so they distrust the people greatly, and as the current rulers dethroned the "rightful" baron, the rulers are even worse than the people.
4) Council of Light (4
The original Council of Light was an ancient organization, hundreds or even thousands of years older than the empire of Ghoril. It's origins remain shrouded in mystery, although it's later years are quite well known. Being just a small group of Arcanists, when Ghoril came along, this particular political entity swore their allegiance to the empire. When the empire of Ghoril began to fall during the Deathstriker War, the Council of Light was not immune - indeed, three of their members were members of the Cult, and it nearly annihilated the Council to kill those three.
Once the Council of Light managed to recover, though, they realized that they had regained their independence from Ghoril. The Council decided to maintain their independence from the newly emerging kingdoms, city-states and barons, and instead decided to act as neutral entities and a means of negotiation to prevent needless wars.
Their composition is the
And that's everything that exists of it. Rereading it has reminded me of what my original plans were for the series, and I'll be recycling lots of that into Fantasy RP.
It also reminded me of some excerpts of books from the Green Tower that I wrote on the wiki that I made for Arloth, like this one.
