While the life essence of children is weaker than that of adults, it is much more malleable and can be used in making creations that would not be possible with only full-growns. The life essence of leaders, warriors, and those with even the smallest hint of magic is stronger than a normal man, as is visible to those who see. The childbearing women, well... They are useful for creating more slaves, more who can be taken into my army. And they can be used as reserves, in case all the others are used up and the place is attacked with not enough to defend it.
We shall continue working on the Essence Chamber.

Excellent. Take several of the commoners to be used in making Wraiths.
(Wraith: Very fast and can walk through walls. More durable than Ghouls, and they last longer, but are only slightly weaker in terms of offense and must be made from 2 fully grown humans, usually commoners.)

Set them to guard the cave. If any would-be explorers venture out to find the source, they will find a very nasty surprise waiting for them.
Now, how many magic users and leaders do we have? Warriors are not important for now, just those with magic and leadership.
