WW1: The Invasion

The year is 1914.


Germany begins invading surrounding areas on the Western front, having engineers do a thing never quite done before; along the invasion path, they seem to dig trenches. 


After awhile of this new type of invasion, global leaders from around the world are beginning to get sick of Germany's antics. Britain and France come together to form the Entente Powers to combat this new threat.

You are a new soldier in this war, straight off the school-benches for recruitment. How will you fare?

(Note, this is an RP where you're stationed on the Western Front as either the Entente (allied) powers or the Central (Axis) powers to combat each other. No, this is not historically accurate, so it can go either way. Just remember that.)

Rifleman: Short Magazine Lee Enfield (Lee Enfield Mk. III/SMLE) Bolt-Action Rifle w/ pattern 1907 Bayonet
Machinegunner: Lewis Gun and SMLE
Bomber: SMLE and 5 Grenades

Poilu (Entente ~ French)
NCO: Automatique Pistole and Binoculars
Rifleman: Lebel Bolt-Action Rifle w/ Rosalie Bayonet
Machinegunner: Chauchat w/ Pistole Automatique
Bomber: Lebel Bolt-Action Rifle and 5 Grenades

Squad Roles:
NCO: Lead the squad, call in fire support (i.e. bombs, mortars and whatnot, DON'T BE TOO OP WITH THIS)
Rifleman: Aim and kill! Quite simply. For close-quarters, which is not recommended, stab with your bayonet.
Machinegunner: Lay down fire with your machinegun to cover your squad, take strategic positions to do so.
Bomber: Throw grenades in trenches and flush them out; other than that, support your squad using your assigned rifle.

~NOTE~
Most of you will be age 17-18-19 due to the fact that STRAIGHT after highschool, you're urged to join the military.

~NOTE~
This RP will contain all aspects of WW1. The war wasn't really that bloody, except for the Germans. 9 out of 10 Tommies and Poilus survived the war, because honestly, you only spend like 5 days out of a month on the front lines, and it's unlikely that in those 5 days your commander will call for a charge, inducing a large battle. This RP will also be about who you meet at the Support Trench (the trench behind the front-line,) the Reserve Trench (The trench even farther back,) and the Medical Tents behind the Reserve Trench. However, battles WILL happen, so don't worry about that, there will be lots of action, but also things going on behind the scenes.

~LAST NOTE~
The war, in 1914, was pretty calm (compared to the rest of the war). There was the German hate which took place twice in the day, which was basically firing over the German trench to intimidate them. There was no gas yet, as that was introduced later in the war. The start of this gassing is when people really started to hate each other, because come on; you're dropping chlorine gas into a trench to kill all your best buds, which will make them die a terrible death, by the by. So no, you really won't start hating each other until like 1915 and 1916, especially 1917, when gas WILL be available to NCO's. Big battles still happened in 1914, but minus true hate and gas.

Personality: Gets along well with his peers- outgoing. However, in combat, he is fierce and entirely focuses on killing.
Appearance: Wolfi stands at 178 cm, which is below average for his age. He has sky blue eyes and blond hair; a typical German. Wolfie is rather skinny, and his cheek bones are visible. His hair is swept to the side.

Just because this isn't ROBLOX, you will not be spared of my nitpicking.

First off, the MG-08 was used in Germany during WWI, easily googled, if you search the right things and put enough effort into it.

Other than that, the "Tommy Gun", as you called it, was only produced seven years after the presumed date of this roleplay. It would most likely be replaced with a Vickers Medium Machine Gun or Lewis Gun.

Personality: Silent grumpy type. Not one for words or for petty quarrels. Not that patriotic either. He just fights. He just doesn't care about anything, does he?
Appearance: Big and grumpy. Around 6'7", burly, and unshaven. He has dark black hair, and his eyes are squinted in such a way you can't see how pale blue they are unless you can also smell the gin on his breath. He never looks happy. Just mildly amused.

~RP START LINE~

MG-Schutze Alexandria sat in her position, her MG-08 ready, with Schutze Wolfi and Schutze Rolf standing rather close to her. On the other side of No Man's Land was a collection of the Entente Powers, Britain and France. She could see their machinegunners, equally ready with their Lewis Guns and Chauchats. It was not yet a matter; no enemy had entered the MG-08 "Death Zone". Four MG-08's were stationed on either side of the trench, with two in the middle for support if needed. The four on either side interlocked their range, so when the enemy entered that interlocked position (a carefully triangulated one,) they would all open fire, including the ones in the middle, UTTERLY devastating the enemy. In attacks, all the MG-08's would simply lay down suppression fire to make the enemy keep their heads and (more importantly) guns down while our men could advance. The enemy did not have such machinegun tactics; their machineguns would just fire wherever, making our tactics much more efficient.

I turned to Schutze Wolfi.

"Wolfi, do you think that Herr Janlar will order an attack anytime soon?"

"Nein, doubt Herr Janlar would want to with all the Tommies over there." I say, pointing to the Entente trenches firing from across No-Man's land (If we even are near it. Sorry, but I forgot that this existed xP)
