help a pokemaniac out here

I finished OR for the first time a few days ago and aside from all the little optional story bits ( new mauville etc ) that I missed I have nothing to do.
How long does it take to complete the dex? I'm impatient but I want a shiny charm.
And is there anything else to do? I heard the legendaries are no longer shiny-locked so I might just bank everything I've caught so far and restart, getting ready to soft reset...

I dunno, cause I'm the type of person who doesn't care about completing the dex or shiny hunting. 
I just honestly do random stuff on my games after I'm finished with the storyline. xD

I'll just go through the whole guide on Serebii to check if I'm missing anything then if not, I'll bank it all and restart 
If I restart, it shouldn't take long to finish the game because I'll have all my banked mon from the last file.
