Warning: Bit of a read up ahead. This is the largest roleplay I've made so far, in or out of a collab.
Note: Unlike the original, this repost involves magic. Just a note.
~|Plot|~
"I remember it like it occurred yesterday. The preacher, a grim expression upon his face, was telling the gathering crowd, 'King David is dead.' His soul stretches beyond our comprehension, into the realm of the after life, departing our humble sanctuary and continuing the cycle, awarding the crown to his only son, Edward. Long live the king!' Yes, it was a sad day, for David had been a good king, one of the best, if the books I read out of recalled correctly. Previous kings had been greedy and harsh, yet David considered the needs of his followers. New laws to better the people were put in play, and as such the doctors made every attempt to save him. Not even the best of my time, Abraham King, was able to temporarily halt the king's death," a wrinkly old man with, a wheeze and hair white as snow said, pausing occasionally to cough or sneeze.
"The death of the king, of course, meant that the son of the great king, Edward, would receive the title of king. People were not sure whether it would be a welcomed change or not, at first; there was much evidence to show that David had been one of the few good kings of our majestic land for a very long time, but we were soon wiped of our doubts as Edward quickly proved to be an even better king than David. While we remained an economic and cultural power for our world, Edward also expanded upon our military front, and began conquering new lands, adding onto our empire, and adding laws along the way to better our way of life."
The elderly man fell silent, a solemn expression forming upon his face as he recalled the days that somehow took the strong, independent king, one with so much potential to better the kingdom.
"Then something changed in Edward, for he became harsh and cruel, much like the king David became a successor for. He ruined the golden age of our kingdom, turning us into filthy barbarians, focused only on conquest, forming the largest empire known to mankind, yet also, in the process, destroying the once peaceful traditions of our great nation. No one but Edward himself knows what stirred in his mind that made him lose his way, but it was large enough to transform him into a ruthless king, focused on no one but himself," he continued, now coughing a bit more often but continuing on with his story.
"We didn't put up with it, of course. A new potential ruler rose from the shambles of our tortured nation, claiming himself to be the rightful heir to the throne, to be part of the royal blood line. Alchemists were able to prove that he was untruthful, that his words were not of fact but of lies. But, something inside the hearts of us citizens made us consider the situation; this new imposturous heir to the throne may perhaps prove to be more of a king than Edward will ever manage to be, unless he has found his way again. We found it unlikely, but the new claimant, William, may just end our suffering and put an end to Edward's reign of tyranny." The man was now trembling, coughing more than ever as he ushured the listeners away.
~|Story|~
The son of the old King David, Edward, had become a tyrant focused more on the militaristic power of Eutura, rather than the previous era of prosperity in wealth, culture, and science. Now, rather than the new inventions that were once being crafted every few months, men and women are lucky to invent a new recipe, and even that effort takes years. Education has never been poorer, and it seems that the world power has collapsed on top of itself. However, in the ruin of the Euturan Kingdom, a man by the name of William claimed himself to be of the royal blood line. Despite him being later proven to be incorrect, there was still speculation that this man could perhaps be the salvation the kingdom of Eutura was looking for. The Euturan Kingdom has been split, split into a civil war between the claimant William and the true king Edward, those seeking a change and those still loyal to the crown of Eutura. Chaos ensues, even for those that wish to remain neutral in the war, simply trying to survive the brutal battles and the ever growing death count. Their chances are slim.
~|Lore and Religion|
The most common religion, Zenthes, is one that has spreaded throughout the continent through the ages. It contains a pantheon of several main gods, and includes a story of how the universe was created during a godly war. A selection from a book describing the founing of the universe is placed here.
-
Long ago, there was no universe. There was only the Aether, a beautiul place where gods resided and acted very much so like humans. There were countless gods, too many to count. However, these gods had a single ruler, one by the name of Anok. He was described as the most powerful god, one who could tear down an entire palace with only a thought. H was very cruel, much like King Edward. And so, much like the present situation in Eutura, there was a large rebellion.
The leader of the rebellion, Arigin, was the god of war and victory. His power, alongisde his army size, seemed to confirm a decisive victory that would end the reign of tyranny that Anok had plagued the Aether with for centuries upon centuries. However, in stead it was a slaughter, and for over three centuries neither side managed to collect an advantage.
But then, one day, Arigin launched a massive strike against the palace of Anok, resulting in a battle that would later be known as the Battle of the Fates. It ended with the destruction of the body of Anok, and a tremendous explosion that awoke even the most ancient slumbering gods, though they were luckily peaceful. However, the destruction of the god emperor instead resulted in the creation of the place we know as the universe; it is literally the new body of Anok, a massive ever growing celestial object that is impossible to destroy no matter how many gods assault it.
The gods decide to use this place as a replacement for their previous home, which had been destroyed by the sheer force of the explosion. Gods took over small territories, and the god of life and earth teamed together to begin creating worlds, worlds filled with flora and animals, and, the most important, the world of Ezerth, in which the roleplay takes place. Of course, Arigin found out. Rather than being mad, though, he instead declared that a new being of mortals shall be froged here, and such is how humanity came to be.
~|Geography of Eutura~|
The roleplay takes place in a universe alternate to our own. The atmosphere, sentient beings, and even nonsentient beings are the same, however the continents and civilizations are quite different.
Eutura itself is based in the continent of Lezath. It is a relatively large empire, its origins being in a large city situated in between two mountains, providing a great amount of metals and other resources. Both enhance the military power greatly and allow for trading with other civilizations. The area not based upon the mountain is generally used for farmland and caravan trading routes. A great river extends from the ocean about 50 miles eastward, and is about 10 miles from the walls of the inner city. The river, in all, manages to snake from one coast line to the other. This provides both a fresh source of water for drinking and great farm land. Many farmers reside here. There is also a very small desert in the southern Euturan territories. Very few live there, though due to this the ones that do have access to large amounts of land.
~|Locations|~
There are a few locations in Euturan territory that prove to be of great importance. They are listed here, and it should be noted that roleplayers are expected to not have to ask an admin or another roleplayer what a location listed here is, as if I say an event is happening at a location it is likely described here.
Ordigan: The largest city in Eutura, and the capital, it houses the royal palace and is the location of King Edward and his most prized loyalists. The city can almost be recognized as the wondrous center of culture and monetary wealth it was many years ago. The buildings from this golden age still stand, their architectural significance very obvious. In the center of the city is a massive fountain made to worship the king of the gods in their religion[more about that later]. The palace is located far back, near the mountains, making it highly defended, both by natural and man made walls.
Mount. Zarath: Mount. Zarath is a massive yet inactive volcano located northwards of Ordigan. The city of Locatus is put in place here. The mountain is named after the god of fire and wrath, Zarath. There are rumors that the volcano is soon to erupt, though there is no proof of such an event occurring as of yet. The walls are made out of a strange black metal that is apparently found no where else.
Port David: Founded by King David himself in order to increase the amount of trade between his own empire and the nations owned by others, today it remains to be one of the most powerful trade centers in the world being home to many nobles and sailors. A large portion of the Euturan navy is established here as well, a shipyard being not to far away. The port was established as the life of King David neared a close.
Gertios: When the newly crowned King Edward went insane he managed to conquer many of the greatest cities, the biggest of which was the Ergian city of Gertios, being known for having 3 rivers very close by, almost running through it, and the grand temple praising the gods situated in the center of the city, much like in Ordigan.
The White Sea: The body of water the large river of the EverWhite starts from, The White Sea is recognized as the White Sea due to it is slightly lighter appearance than normal due to the fact that over time the amount of storms known to occur in this area have caused it to throw and twist sand, eventually breaking get down to turn it white. There is also rumor of another out of world force ruling over the sea, giving it the white color. The sea Port David is built on.
The Crater Wall: According to some of the worlds more educated scientific minds, along with the studying of the giant rocks in the ground, meteors hit the land some time ago, and made a natural border across the land. The fragments of the meteors are respected by a fair amount of people suspecting that they had been sent as a gift from the gods, and so no one has tried to make a claim to these space originated rocks.
~|Classes|~
While different classes specialize in different areas, all classes can perform all actions, though it is suggested that you keep to what you are good at in order to ensure you survive. The classes are listed here, and you may only choose one.
Knight: The knights are essentially the melee class of the roleplay. They are better suited warring on the front lines, killing their opponents with great swords and powerful hammers and axes. Their armor is made of iron, and it is also mixed with a tunic, slightly. They gain advantages when fighting in melee combat.
Sub Classes:
Vanguard:Vanguards used to simply be Knights, but, at the start of the war, they became a rather specialised band of fighters that are put at the front of the formation to scare away calvary from killing their regular warriors. They also have smoke pots, which were developed by alchemists to realease a large bubble of smoke that is nearly impossible to see through, blocking line of sight to pesky Archers.
Men of War: Men of war are the exact opposite of Knights, instead getting a light leaher chest piece and any weapon that can maim, wound or kill an enemy. Most are armed with hatchets and broadswords, but some have been seen carrying wooden clubs to battle. Men of War carry sall oil pots, that, when lit, makes any area (excluding water) burst into flames.
Archer: A class focused mainly on ranged combat, the archer is armed mostly with bows, firing from a distance and providing support and defenses. The archer class gains advantages in defensive positions, as well as a bonus for ranged combat.
Sub Classes:
Crossbowmen: Crossbowmen are skilled in the art of the crossbow, and while archery is a preferred method by many due to it's short "reload" time, the crossbow can both short farther and dish out more damage, even if the reload time is incredibly slow.
Assassin: The assassin is a stealth based class, essentially being used to sneak and eliminate opposition from the shadows. They gain a bonus for all attacks revolving around sneak attacks.
Doctor: While many are scared of the fine 'doctors' they will admit that they probably wouldn't be alive right now because of it. They are usually behind the frontlines, taking patients as they come and go. Though there are doctors who do go into the front lines, putting soldiers back into the fight.
Sub-class
Alchemist: Alchemists aren't in the fray usually, they instead brew potions, like the substance used for the vanguards. They also specialize in making potions that cause large explosions, making it incredibly difficult to know what is truly going on in the battlefield when the potions start dropping.
The Lightning Riders: The Lightning Riders are a variation of cavalry focussed more on speed than anything else, the hopes being that they move too fast for the vanguards, charging in before they are able to prepare their formations. Lightly armored but incredibly fast.
Sub Class:
Rough Riders: The rough riders are suposed King Edward's 'counter' to the the lighting riders, being greatly armored though slower than The Lightning Riders. They are great at defense and offense but are greatly reduced in speed compared to the usual cavalry troops.
Royalty [ADMIN ONLY!]: Kings, princes, queens - you name it, royalty is perhaps the most powerful classes. They are able to chose benefits in two areas, rather than the usual one for other classes. Known members of the Royalty Class are figures such as King Edward and William.
Wizard: Exploiters of magic, wizards possess the ability to manipulate the divine powers of the land for their own uses. The wizards have the smallest numbers of any class due to the difficulty it takes to master and hone the skills of magic, and only those born with the gift of magic are able to be taught to master it, unless they come from a long line of wizards, meaning there is a small chance they can be taught to use it.
~|Factions|~
Aside from the two combatting sides in the civil war, there are also some very important factions that must be kept in mind. They play important parts in the plot and will play a major part in furthering a story.
Eutura: Eutura, obviously, is the main faction in the rolepaly, and also serves as the most powerful empire to exist in the area. It is currently ruled by King Edward, the capital city is Ordigan. It is considered to be the holy empire of the largest religion, Zenthes. Few can say they have stood against Eutura and survived, due to it's large military power. There is fragments of the once existing golden age that once took hold of the empire.
Arigins Shield: Arigins Shield is the name given to the rebels after about a month of fighting. Arigin is known to be the king of the gods in the religion Zenthes. He is the god of war and victory, and he became even more important after King Edward began to lose his previously kind attitude. He is often depicted carrying with him a shield forged of black metal very similar to the material the wall is made out of on Mount Zarath. The rebellion is about a quarter of the Euturan population, the rest being terrified out of their wits. The location of the rebelions "headquarters" is unknown.
The Lotus Brotherhood: The Lotus Brotherhood is only a faction rumored to exist, though there is strong evidence that it does. It is said that The Lotus Brotherhood is a group of men organized into a secret society, praising gods that are not accepted in the Euturan empire. Their practices are generally considered to be too harsh, including the likes of sacrifice, adultery, etc. The Lotus Brotherhood are a common enemy for many of the people in Eutura.
The Men of Knowledge: The Men of Knowledge are a collection of scientists, teachers and doctors. While the do not partake in combat directly, they do focus on scheming up battle strategies, new weapons, new medicinal herbs and other things of the like. While they do not care about the civil war, they are using it to a means to an end, so they can get a huge reward for their efforts. In fact, Men of Knowledge are know to work fo BOTH SIDES of this civil war, but still meet up for dinner without incident.
The Purple Heart: A group of bandits patrolling the border between Eutura and it's neighbors, robbing traders, merchants, farmers, even royalty if they can get the chance. They commonly wear black cloaks above a set of golden armor that provides more protection the more valued you are in the bandit rankings.
~[Major Figures]~
King Edward: The once loving king, now turned tyrant, he is the king of the Eutura. Being the king, this means his wealth and power have gone to his head, making him easily susceptible to bribes. He is cruel, brutal and harsh but quite the warrior, this being shown when he took on William one on one to a duel. Even though William survived, Edward emerged victorious.
William: The leader of Arigins shield, William is often compared to the previous personality of King Edward. He is rather kind and concerned, willing to even sell his own possesions in order to help the rebellion continue on. William is also quite the warrior, having already taken Edward in a duel and survived in one of the largest battles to take place in the civil war so far. He is currently married hand has two children.
George: George is one of the most famed generals in all of Eutura, having worked alongside King Edward for nearly his entire period of ruling. He is perhaps the most loyal soldier you could ever find, willing to follow King Edward to the grave need the situation arise. He is incredibly skilled in both combat and tactics, though is miniscule in comparison to the greatness of King Edward.
Abraham: A doctor at heart, Abraham is considered to be controlled by the god of healing, due to his magnificent "powers" when it comes to healing his patients. There are not many that have been treated by Abraham that have not made it through alive, and he has quite the reputation across the continent. He went into hiding upon the start of the war, and is a known important figure in the organization known as The Men of Knowledge.
~|Admins|~
Admins exist to enforce the rules and ensure that no flame wars clog up the large portion of the roleplay. They are people that collaborated with me on the project, and are able to overrule actions that are considered to be against the rules. Only Birm is allowed to veto their decisions. A normal rper can, however, propose a vote to decide whether an admin's actions have been against the code of conduct. More admins may be added if enough decide that they are trust worthy.
They will be appointed if those who collaborated with me join or I find someone that is suitable enough to be an admin. The following are: Tailsdahfox, OoDwagonxX, and Vamking12.
