Oh, wow. They already have the good old ‘who’s a veteran?’ thread up. Because that’s the stuff that really matters.

Honestly though, looking at that forum layout after all this time makes me realise how inferior it is to what we have now. Having the OOC and RPs separated here works a charm. No word limit and everything is just less squashed than it was.

I was so annoyed when I tried to post a thread advertising my RP on Bannanachair (because there's a bunch of people who didn't know about it even existing, whereas if everyone was on one forum they'd all have seen it and known whether they'd join or not by now). I decided that it would be a good idea to give the people a taste of what they'd get if they joined it, so I opted to put a few chapters of the OP of the RP up on there. It was too long to post. I ended up posting "chapters" (are they really chapters, though? I don't know, it's too late to second-guess what I call things) 1.2, 2.3 and 5.1 in four separate posts.

I'm trying to get as many people as possible to go to proboards. If there is a character limit it would have to be due to technical limitations and not something stupid. I'm thinking that it would likely be either 65,536 characters or some number too high to matter to me (4,294,967,296 characters or 9,223,372,036,854,775,808 characters). I'm actually inclined to see if there's a character limit now. I'll go do some tests to see.

I just tested it and the character limit is over 100,000. That means that, no matter how long your RP is, you'll probably be able to post it.

It's 2¹⁸. Does that number include or exclude spaces? I have an average of 4.859 characters per word on Fantasy RP if it doesn't count spaces and 5.834 characters per word if it does count spaces based on what's on my word document right now (which is slightly over 9,700 words). If it counts spaces I'm capped out at about 45,000-ish words and if it doesn't I'm capped out at 54,000-ish words. I'm not worried about hitting those caps any time soon, but I have a feeling that if I keep adding to Fantasy RP I might eventually get it to slightly over 20,000 words, and knowing me, things tend to just get more out of hand than I anticipate as I keep working on them.

I believe it includes spaces, as I've just tested on my own Proboards forum (which has the word count plugin - which can be switched to characters) and spaces are counted.
