What were your thoughts on the movie? I actually quite liked it, though there are some valid points to be made against it. That said, I walked away from the movie thinking that it was entertaining, and I watched it a second time and still enjoyed it. I don't think it's the best movie ever, though I don't think that any Star Wars film is the best movie ever (nor do I think that the movies are always the best form of Star Wars media, for that matter).

I will admit that it felt a little different from the regular Star Wars movie but it did so in a good way (Spoilers (No, I don't know how to make the spoiler thingy)):
You see, one of Star Wars's central messages is that the underdog always wins and that sometimes disobedience is the right thing to do. In here the rebels and the First Order are at a slow battle that would result in the rebel's inevitable defeat. Of course that one guy (Can't remember his name) can't handle that the rebels are only running with their tails in between their legs and so he looks for an alternative and winds up sending Finn and some random girl to find a master hacker while the pilot gets a mutiny ready so that he can enact his alternative. However, it blows up in his face with that master hacker backstabbing Finn and that girl and the pilot getting his ass kicked by Leia and discovering that Leia did have a plan.
This is the first time that Star Wars has showed that while sometimes disobedience is the right thing the operative word in there is sometimes and regardless of your thoughts on the matter, you have to admit that it's a pretty fresh difference from the regular Star Wars formula.

(Spoilers, just skip to the last paragraph. It’s the most important.)
I did enjoy the film quite a bit despite its flaws. To be honest, no Star Wars film has ever been perfect. The original trilogy suffers from stilted dialogue and dated effects (not that I can really hold that against them), the prequels are the prequels (though I do have a soft spot for them), and these sequels like to retread old ground (but who doesn’t). It’s a solid film though. There’s some bits of Luke’s character that I don’t like. He turned Darth Vader, the baddest menace in the galaxy, back to the light side and he never gave up hope on him. But he’s gave up on Kyle far to quickly. The whole film showed that Kylo could turn, as could Rey, and he very nearly did. It’s possible that Rey staying with him after the throne room scene would have done more good than harm to the galaxy. She almost had him but gave up. Luke gave up. But I think there’s still a chance.
I don’t think the third film will look at that now though. Snoke is gone and Kylo is the only sith left. Hux hates him but beyond that there’s over real dark side power. We’re shown constantly how weak and lost the rebels are but the losses the First Order have suffered have been almost as severe. They lost Starkiller base, a dreadnaught, and a load of cruisers. That’s a lot gone. They’ll have more but something has to give eventually.
Overall, it’s a good, enjoyable movie with some great set pieces. R2 and C3PO were there to confirm we were watching Star Wars. Poe got angry a lot. Leia force flew. Luke drank some green milk. BB knocked out guards with gambling chips. Rose let a door get destroyed for the people she loved. Rey broke a wagon with some rocks. Chewie smashed a door for the people he loved (not the Rose door). Snoke sat on his chair. Hux shouted. Purple Hair Evening Gown turned that ship around. Kylo shouted more than Hux. Was good, had fun.
Star Wars peaked with the Ewok Christmas Special and will never refind that magic. But then nothing could. That Christmas special made presidents cry in awe. The whole world watched with open mouths in absolute shock. Finally, someone had made the perfect film. It didn’t need substance, good characters, an interesting plot. No, it didn’t need anything of that. It just needed to be whatever the hell that Christmas special is. Because there’s nothing more perfect. It told us something about ourselves, about why we’re here (a result of some cosmic coincidence), about what we need to do from here. And I think that’s pretty special. Grab your loved ones, grab your hated ones, grab your neighbours cat if you have to and sit down to enjoy one of the bloody greatest experiences of your life. Ewok Christmas Special!

You misspelt "kylo" as "kyle" in one of your sentences and it was the absolute best thing I've ever read. Edit: I posted this before I read the rest of your post and realized that the entire thing was facetious. Either way, the thing that I laughed the hardest at was still "kyle" rather than "kylo".

I remember that Christmas Special. My stepfather searched far and wide for it and was finally able to show us it for Christmas one year. It was so perfect I could only watch the first fifteen minutes of it.
