I used to have two cats, Marlowe and Sol. They were brothers, despite being different breeds. Marlowe was a Bombay (all black) and was born with a deficit in his urethra, and at random intervals crystals built up in his urinary tract and caused him to urinate blood and experience pain and suffering. It got worse every time he got sick, and yesterday he suddenly started doing it again.
We put him on a prescribed medication and some painkillers, and he was really groggy and lying around the place, occasionally wanting to go outside to try to urinate again. Last night my dad let him out and this morning we found his dead body on the deck. I'm pretty sure his kidneys failed and he died while he was sleeping. He was a really great cat. He purred extremely loud and was very affectionate. So now every time I think of him or see his dead body, I burst out literally crying. He hasn't been buried yet, but we put him in a nice pillowcase that he used to lie on all the time, years back. He died in his favorite spot, hidden in the corner of my deck.
So now his brother (who is a mackerel tabby) lives on with his spirit. He's quite a bit different, and he's the most laid-back and chill cat the world has ever seen.
