I also think I figured out how the show is going to end. If you haven't already seen it, you need to catch up. Consider this a spoiler warning. Ser Pounce is Azor Ahai and will end up reviving Balerion the Dread and riding a skeleton dragon into battle to kill the Night King, and at the end of the show he will take the Iron Throne for himself. He has been the one secretly manipulating everything behind the scenes, even manipulating Littlefinger and Varys. Ser Pounce is the Prince that was Promised.

Also, this video is a nice breakdown of the best character in the show:

All caught up, now? What was the most horrifying part for you, thus far? I personally think the Mountain Vs. the Viper is up there... Poor Oberyn. I know I'd have puked watching that fight in person.

The red wedding, basically all of Theon's storylines in season 3, the Mountain/Viper fight and the zombie dragon were probably some of the most shocking moments for me.

Oh, also, for anyone interested in watching it, it's not what people say it is (that is, "boobs, murder, incest and rape and nothing else"), it's actually a much more interesting show than that. Sure, there are all of those things in it and the show doesn't shy away from character deaths, but there's also complicated plots of intrigue, brave heroes that go off on magical quests and a young girl traveling the world, trying to survive (seriously, when people pitch the show to one another, why do they seem to forget about Arya? She's the best character!)

Because for the longest time, Arya was No one... Ba dum tss. And yeah, the red wedding definitely fucked me up. I recognized the music right as Caitlyn did, and then the horror commenced. And Hodor... Poor fucking Hodor. Is it messed up that I kind of want to see him return as a wight? And Syrio, what are your thoughts on him? Based on speculation, since he didn't have an on-screen death, I've heard a lot of claims that he may be Jaqen, but I dunno.

I even made it easier. rainierland.com/page/7?s=GameI haven't used it for years 'cause I got HBO now, but it looks like they're all still there. And keep us updated! It's always great seeing people's reactions to various points in the plot, haha.

Tim 2016: Honestly if you want to watch Game of Thrones you don't even need to watch it; just watch Lord of the Rings and take a break to go watch porn once every 10 minutes.
Tim 2017: Oh, also, for anyone interested in watching it, it's not what people say it is (that is, "boobs, murder, incest and rape and nothing else"), it's actually a much more interesting show than that.

A girl was by far the best character in a show. I don't think that Syrio is Jaqen. That would imply that the Faceless Men had a conspiracy to try to get Arya from season one, which makes no sense at all. And they don't just want her face; if they did, they'd've just killed her and stolen it. I think that Syrio may still be alive (he is the First Sword of Braavos, after all - a valuable prisoner, if nothing else), but I don't know. It's a better theory than "Varys is secretly a mermaid" (something my brother told me about) but I don't buy it. I did buy a copy of the first book, though, to see if there's anything in there that may lead to better speculations on the future of the show.

From what I understand, there's already been a few semi-significant changes from the book before the show had gotten ahead, such as a certain little girl getting burned alive at the stake. I also believe R. R. Martin is rather displeased with where the show has been going, leading me to believe the books will be drastically different by the time both sets are all said and done. But I could be wrong about that; I have yet to actually read them... I have too many things I really need to read. I've been wanting to get my hands on Sapkowski's Witcher stories, especially with a show supposedly coming out in the future. Also, I see your out of context Ramsey and raise you an out of context Joffrey.

Seriously though I'm going to start watching it very soon. Oh 2017 Duck, you sweet summer child. Soon doesn’t mean 1 year and three months. Anyway, I’ve just finished my own watchthrough of Game of Thrones. Brilliant. Amazing. Why did it take me so long?

Imagine the show, but with (somewhat) less gratuitous sex and more interesting characters. Also the Dorne story is actually good.

Would you read them as separate books or together?

Would you read them as separate books or together? Read Feast first, then Dance. There are some people who have their own chapter-by-chapter reading order (Boiled Leather, A Ball of Beasts, A Feast of Dragons, etc.), but they all tend to spoil some interesting twists that were left out of the show.

I watched the show just over a year ago. I admit it takes a bit to get into if you aren't much of a worldbuilding/exposition person (which is much of what happens in the first three or so episodes) but in general, it's phenomenal.

It absolutely is. You’re right the first couple of episodes are a little slower (I’m someone who’s alright with that), but once it kicks off it really kicks off.

Especially in season 5 with the Sand Snakes. They are by far the three most interesting characters in the show and honestly we need a spinoff based entirely around Dorne.
