Never Ending♪
Braden got out of his bed and rubbed his eyes. He felt like he was still tired, but he felt really hungry. He opened the cupboard on top of the sink and took out the fork and put it on a plate at the kitchen table. Braden put a waffle in the toaster as he rubbed his eyes. He didn’t want to be a part of a family that didn’t care about him. He just wanted to be a person who was cared about.
DING! The toaster was done. The toaster startled Braden and made him step back. He took the waffle out in anger and stuffed it into his mouth. He forgot about the syrup but he didn’t care about it. Braden walked back upstairs and took a book called “Reverse” and travelled back downstairs with his black hair waving.
Braden walked outside and sat down onto his porch and he saw his younger sister playing with her neighbor. Braden felt bored as ever, he never had a good day; Even when he had time with his father it was still the worst day ever to him! When his sister Millie always asked him to play with her he still yelled NO! He didn’t think it would be that fun for him, although he never tried it.
Being in the spotlight of boredom was so worth it for him. He liked to do everything by himself since his dad had no care for him; also his mom! But she passed away 3 years ago. Disappeared in the void of space, in the abyss of a white space, the opposite of life; death. Death was such a hard offer, even for a young athletic boy like Braden.
Braden took out the book and started reading his own flow of words vibrating onto his own tongue. His only passion was to read. Read, read, read, read, and read… Why? Because of his own style of course! Reading only made life easier for him. He closed his eyes imagining he was in his own world. Color and full of life leaked into his mind. His only fun thing to do was not a thing; he never liked to do anything fun. Braden just read and read books.
Well, it was the middle of summer also! Being a teen for Braden really was a short hassle. He tried to smooth things out, but it didn’t seem to change. He kept on reading where the reading really wasn’t a hassle.
At 10:00 AM Braden and Millie got into the brown corvette with their dad Patrick on the stick. They were headed to Reddot; which was a store on Maple Street. Patrick changed the stick to reverse and backed up out of the driveway. He started to turn left to turn right; as he put the stick into drive.
“So…” Millie said. “Braden why are you so grumpy all of the time?” Braden frowned like he normally does after every time someone talks.
“Don’t talk to me!” Braden said groaning. His whole life was bad since he was 4; always trying to do things his way, no one else’s. Millie started to frown, about to cry again with her head down and her hands over her eyes.
“Stop being such a whiney baby!” Braden says hearing her cry and not looking at her.
“Now stop Braden.” Patrick said as he continued driving. Patrick did a harsh turn towards the right, while some boxes in the back seat almost fell on top of Millie. Millie turned to see the boxes almost crush her. Millie sighed as she wiped the tears off of her.
“Sorry Millie, I guess I’m a little rusty after not driving for a while.” Patrick said sighing also.
The car suddenly stopped at the beach. A glorious scene for making Braden forget about just reading for fun, Patrick thought. The family started to hassle out of the corvette.
“Why are we here, I thought we were going to Reddots?” Braden frowned. He didn’t want to be beside the Jacksonville, Florida Beach. He wanted to buy a game and see what his friends are talking about when they say “games”. Millie smiled.
“Yay, beaches!” Braden thought she didn’t want to be anywhere else besides the beach. He wanted to be alone for good; No one besides his friends to cheer him on.
“Remember the last time we went to the beach?” Patrick asked with a smile.
“Yes, and I hated it!” Braden yelled at him for bringing it up. Millie smiled.
“Oh, you need to take some time to relax and enjoy it!” Millie replied walking towards the beach.
“Whatever.” Braden said as he walked into the lockers and started changing, Braden’s friend Darin walked up towards Patrick.
“I knew Braden would be here!” Darin said as he bent down and panted.
“Hey Darin!” Millie replied as she grinned with glee.
“Ey, Milley!” Darin continued trying to make it rhyme. His voice sounded quite mellifluous and pleasing to the ear, as if a bird was singing its own new blue jay song.
“You make great songs!” Millie said to him smiling.
“I know I do! And I know it’s true.” Darin still tried to make it rhyme. He’s a song fanatic for some reason. Braden thought Darin was madly in love with her, and that really is true! Darin smiled back and Millie blew a kiss. “See you later babycakes!” Darin said smiling with his shiny teeth and walking away. He started to go back to his area of the beach while Braden came out dressed in his orange swimming trunks.
“Did I just hear Darin?” Braden asked.
“Yes, He is over by the “concession stand.” Patrick said pointing. Braden ran towards where Darin was.
“It’s working!” Millie said smiling gladly. Braden went towards the concession stand.
“Darin!” Braden said smiling.
“Bradan, my man!” Darin sung rhyming like he usually does,
“Why are you here?!?” Braden asked.
“Well uh, your dad was trying to keep you ha… I mean!... Uh, beaches are fun, and I wanted to express that! Heh… Yeah, that’s it…” Braden felt extremely confused, but he knew what he was about to say.
“My dad used you?...” Braden started to tear up. “I knew you were a hoax for me! That’s it I’m leaving!” Darin started to feel bad for him.
“No, no. Don’t leave me here like I’m an open book.” Darin sang. “I am your friend, don’t take that under consideration. I am your friend. I wouldn’t use you for a dollar. Even though I wanted to give you a holler. Do you listen to what I know? Is it a flashback, or is it a show? I think you don’t know what I mean, but can we just start and come out clean? Bra-a-a-den, I am your… friend.” Braden didn’t care anymore about what Darin sang. He just cried while walking back to his family with Darin following him.
“You’re not my friend anymore!” Braden yelled.
“Whelp, that didn’t work out as good as we had planned.” Patrick whispered to Millie and Darin.
“You bet it didn’t!” Braden yelled as he sat back down into the car. Braden cried that his best friend was gone. He turned his head so they couldn’t see. Braden felt totally embarrassed. He started to read the book “Reverse” again. He didn’t look up to see Millie looking at him. She knocked on the window, hoping that Braden would hear. He didn’t look up. He just kept on reading. Passionate reading only for Braden. Braden was devastated about himself hanging out with Darin. He started to hate Darin for what he did to him. Braden looked up again seeing Millie to his right.
“Hey…” She said so only he could hear.
“What are you here for?” Braden said only paying attention to himself and not Millie.
“Well…” Millie hesitated. “Sorry.” Millie says tearing up.
‘Oh, here it goes again.’ Braden thought. He got out of the car and went behind a tree and plugged his ears to block off her sound of whining.
“Braden,” Patrick yelled as he came over and put Millie on his back. “I told you stop it!” Patrick continued as he pats Millie on her back. Braden kind of felt a little bit sad because he did that. He wanted to apologize, but he couldn’t! He wanted one mood, and that was to be hateful throughout his life. He always wanted to be mad for some inadequate reason. Nobody knew why, not even Darin. Darin never knew that Braden even has been sad in his life! Darin thought Braden was fun to hang out with and other things. Darin was sad about one thing, Braden. Now that Braden liked Darin singing, he thinks now that singing is totally overrated whatsoever; he will never change his mind. Patrick went into the car with Braden and Millie. Patrick was mad as ever; while Braden was mad at his dad.
They never get along quite well; they just fought and fought no matter where they go. It still wouldn’t change from Braden OR Patrick’s point-of-view. Patrick did a sharp turn and Braden flew out of the car, breaking the window and rolling onto the thick gravel and thin grass.
“Ouch, ouch, ow!!!” Is what Braden repeated rolling downhill. Braden hit his head a multiple amount of times as he thought his soul was about to come out of his body. He wasn’t really dead, he just hit a tree and it was over. All of the rolling stopped, and the breeze was still flowing. The entire world at peace; well, at least Braden didn’t fall to his death. He got up off of the ground and staggered to the left trying to see how well his feet were. It seemed like Braden was in some sort of daze. But he was in another town, although he didn’t know which it was. He found himself walking from beside the water about thirty meters from the beach. He decided not to go back, but Darin decided to follow him; All the way to the twenty-ninth meter. He wanted to stay back just in case.
Braden got out of his bed and rubbed his eyes. He felt like he was still tired, but he felt really hungry. He opened the cupboard on top of the sink and took out the fork and put it on a plate at the kitchen table. Braden put a waffle in the toaster as he rubbed his eyes.
