---Intro---
In the world of Gaire, fear governs the world.
Mighty beasts strike fear into the hearts of mankind, destroying cities and slaughtering hundreds. For years, these colossal monstrosities known only as the Beasts have been destructive forces in the world for thousands of years. As far as humanity knows, none of these beasts have ever reproduced, yet none of them have ever died. 30 of these beasts roam the world looking for their next meal, and all of them seem to be completely different from one another, ranging from a giant diamond golem that walks on its two hind legs to a four-legged animal covered in hair. All of them, however, at their center, have a gem that controls their life force. If this were to be attacked hard enough, the beast would be destroyed.
Unfortunately, all of humanities efforts to destroy these beasts have failed. That is, all until now.
You are a person, a human hell-bent on finally removing these evil monsters from Gaire once and for all. You are the hero. You are the Beastfighter.
---Description---
Beastfighter is a low-magic fantasy boss-fighter RPG-styled ISRP. This means that, as opposed to killing several small enemies to gain money and level up, every time you fight you will be fighting one large, difficult enemy. In order to beat the game, you must roam the world and defeat the 30 Beasts of Gaire, including the Ultimate Beast, which cannot be destroyed until the other 29 are.
If you sign up for this, I guarantee you one thing: YOU WILL DIE. The gameplay will be challenging and unforgiving, and you'll need to think about each move before you do it. However, you can decide how unforgiving you want me to be (See Difficulty and Intensity.)
Along the way, you will earn Electrum coins which you can use to buy new gear, which will allow you to change your strategy as you go. Do you want to be a Hit-Tank that can take a few swings from a Beast before falling? Do you want to instead be Damage-Heavy, and finish the beast before they can get enough hits on you? Would you rather go for a fast-moving rogue instead and avoid hits entirely? Ranged fighting? Up close with melee? Something else? The choice is yours.
---Alignment---
In game, you will stand somewhere along the balance of Good and Evil. Your Alignment will shift towards good by doing good deeds in town, killing Beasts, and giving to the poor and such. However, murder, theft, and being cruel to people will shift your alignment towards Evil.
If you are Good, people will like you more and you may even get discounts in shops. If you are Evil, people will try to avoid you and maybe even run from you. You will also be treated worse and shops may even not allow you to buy from them. You can always buy from the Black Market, however. (This will lower your Alignment even more.)
---Difficulty and Intensity---
Before you play the game, I want to know how challenging you want the mechanics to be and how intense you want combat to be. For each option, you have 3 choices.
-Difficulty-
Difficulty determines how tough beasts are. You have 3 choices:
Normal - It really tells you something when an ISRP's easiest difficulty is Normal. At this setting, Beasts will hit you for less damage and will be more effected by your attacks.
Challenging - If you play the game at Challenging difficulty, Beasts will do hefty damage and be fairly resistant to your hits.
Heroic - The hardest difficulty. Beasts attacks will be insanely powerful and will most likely have to be avoided if you want to survive. Beasts will also be very difficult to defeat and will take several swings before falling. For sadists and bored people only.
-Intensity-
Intensity determines how aggressive Beasts are, and how unforgiving gameplay is. You have 3 choices:
Basic - Your mistakes won't have incredible repricussions, and Beasts will be less aggressive.
Fast-Paced - Beasts will be quite aggresive, and your mistakes will have tough effects.
Extreme - Beasts will be on the offensive 24/7, and your actions will make or break you.
---Stats and Perks---
To start out the game, you will get 30 stat points to distribute across 4 stats: Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence, and Health. In this game, having stats at 16-20 is Excellent, 12-15 is Good, 9-11 is Average, 5-8 is Bad, and 1-4 is Crippling.
You may notice you don't have enough stat points to make all of your stats Average. Don't worry. As you level up, you will be able to get more points.
To start the game, you also have your choice of two perks. Here are your choices:
Brute - Your hits will have more effect on beasts, but your characters reaction timing will be a little worse.
Lightning Bolt - The exact opposite to the above. You will have quicker reactions, but your hits will be weaker.
The Paladin - Your character will be much tougher... so long as you are of Good Alignment. Having Evil Alignment will make your character weaker, and the more Good/Evil you are, the greater the effect will be.
Scumbag - You get rewarded for being an awful person. You get a small amount of experience for doing Evil.
Ouch! - Beasts will take a small amount of damage when they do damage to you.
Smiter - It takes less damage to destroy a Beastcore.
Favored Blade - Any blade you use will become stronger the longer you use it, potentially making buying new weapons unnecessary.
Steel Bones - Limbs will be much more resistant.
Uncanny Vitality - You will heal health slowly over time, making stops to the doctor unnecessary.
Resilient - You will have extra health.
Genius Weakling - You can only have 20 points to distribute, but you get a 15 point bonus to Intelligence. (If you pick this, only enter your BASE STATS in.)
Focused - You will see more opportunities for attacks.
True Neutrality - You will always be Neutral Alignment... at the expense of your experience. To prevent you from being Good or Evil, Good and Evil actions will result in an experience penalty.
Grappler - You will be able to grapple Beasts for longer.
