The year is 1927.
The place is the city of Chicago.
You may have immigrated here from Europe, or somewhere else, or maybe you were born in the good old US of A. That doesn't matter, because right now, bootlegging matters.
In case you were living in a soundproof rock, the eighteenth amendment was enacted into the US constitution, banning the sale of alcohol. Nobody could have foreseen the consequences, because suddenly, there was a massive crave for alcohol all over the nation. People want to get it any way they could. Gangs formed all over the country, their leaders realizing they could make a quick buck making and selling illegal alcohol. Most of these gangs formed in Chicago.
This is where you come in.
You're a resident of this great city, or a new one. You have wanted to get into this business for a long time. That time to start is now. There's a warehouse on the south side of the city, near the lakefront. You've claimed it for yourself. You have 150$ in your pocket. You know what you want to do.
Types of buildings (Note: You can either build or claim buildings. You can claim empty buildings, which are unlikely, or ones owned by rival gangs. Building a building unit will take longer than buying/fighting a local gang building, or buying a building to set one up.)
Warehouses: Warehouses store alcohol for selling, If you wish to upgrade a warehouse's storage, you can store more alcohol than the standard 100 crates. Note: If you have more distilleries than warehouses, you will overproduce alcohol, which mean you will have to shut down all of your distilleries. Until you have taken over or created another warehouse, you will not produce more alcohol or gain any revenue. Warehouses cost 50 dollars to build. You own one at the start.
Residence: This is where you live. Can be upgraded to be more lavish and have greater chance of fending off a police or gang raid.
Distilleries: These buildings produce alcohol at 40 cases per turn. Can be upgraded to produce more, and higher quality alcohol, leading to more dough. Distilleries cost 100 dollars to build.
Speakeasies: Speakeasies Sell the alcohol you've produced and stored. However, you must be careful not to build or take over too many speakeasies, as a police raid may occur if you have a rat. Speakeasies sell 100$ worth of alcohol, and 50 cases from your warehouses every turn, and can't be upgraded. Speakeasies cost 50$ to build/claim.
Recruitment centers: Recruitment centers allow the hiring of workers for your buildings. You must have an equal amount of recruitment centers with your distilleries and warehouses, as well as speakeasies. Recruitment centers cost 10$ to build. (Example: You have one distillery and one warehouse, and one speakeasy. You will need to build three recruitment centers. If you have two recruitment centers in this scenario, you will not gain revenue from the speakeasy unless you build another recruitment center.)
Retaliation/Defense Center: These units dispatch raid parties to retake or claim a unit you previously owned. These units have a 50% chance of success at retaking a previously owned unit. However, these units also dispatch defense to your owned buildings, increasing the chance of defeating a gang raid and decreasing the chance of having one happen. These units cost 50$ to build and can be upgraded.
Police raids: Police raids are not to be taken lightly. You will be forced to shut down your building unit forever, unless you can scrounge enough money to bribe them to not come again. If you can't, the more police raids you have, the more likely they will raid where you reside and arrest you. If you are arrested, the ISRP is over. The general rule is that the more buildings you own, the more likely you are to be raided at one of these locations.
Gang Raids: Gang raids are equally similar, however you don't shut down your unit. You can retake your unit, but you will need to build a sizable force to do so using the Retaliation/Defense center. Gang raids usually don't happen unless you have a weakly defended building or you're at war with another gang.
Goal: Your goal is to became the bootlegging king of Chicago. Try not to get arrested or killed by a rival gang, that'll help too. Do note you can also roam the city if you'd like.
If you have any questions please ask them.
