That knife though... The most lethal substance known to man is whatever those knives are made of. Fun fact, I think it's botulism... As in Botox before it is deactivated/dead. 1 gram can kill 1,000 or something like that, but every attempt to make it a weapon has failed. Here's what's interesting about the whole knife thing in COD Assuming the soldier in any given call of duty game are wearing some sort of bullet-proof or bullet-resistant armor (a logical explanation for why they don't fucking drop instantly), then a knife would be incredible effective because, generally, bullet-proof vests do nothing against knives. The reason for that is another topic for another day, and irrelevant anyway. From a game-play standpoint it also makes sense. If you get close enough to use a knife, you deserve to just kill that person. Likewise if you let someone get that close, you deserve the death. Don't forget though, bullet proof vests are made out of Kevlar, which is also real resistant to knives as well.
But I don't particularly care, a video game is meant to give you a break from reality so this thread is kinda pointless anyway.

This. Some games have a really bad logic though.

Don't forget though, bullet proof vests are made out of Kevlar, which is also real resistant to knives as well. That is untrue There is bullet resistant Kevlar, and knife resistant Kevlar Your goal is to pierce bullet-resistant Kevlar, then a good, sharp knife would work wonders The reason being that knives and bullets have different levels of impact and pressure distribution Most bullets, save ones made for armor piercing, have round, blunted tips. This distributes the force of the blow evenly across the circumference of the impact area, thus allowing the Kevlar to take the force of the bullet without it passing all the way through, and meaning a high caliber round will probably still leave you with some broken bones. Knives are different. Knives are sharp, and concentrate all the pressure and force on the very point tip. With so much force in such a small area, the Kevlar cannot absorb the force like it can with a bullet. Now, this all comes from my fairly limited understanding of force and pressure, so I might just be talking out of my ass, but it is no matter.

as i'm too lazy to do any amount of research on the topic.

"I can reload when the magazine/clip in my gun is missing one bullet or almost the entire pack of 'em, and somehow, I don't end up wasting bullets." There was a game that actually made your unfired shots get wasted. I can't seem to think of what it is at the moment, but you quickly figure that out and get used to firing every shot. Borderlands also has, I think the Tedior Guns company that make any unfired shots during a reload get wasted.

Also Tediore guns don't waste ammo I think(I never use them tho), when you reload you throw the gun and it explodes like a grenade, and you make a new gun in your hand.

Aye, that's what they do, and any extra rounds left supposedly add to the overall explosion damage; But pfft, props to anyone who can make good use of that. I prefer the bullets.

- Wielding giant-ass swords, axes, and other stuff all while wearing a set of armor- most fighting games
- Your one in the chamber magically vanishing when you tactically reload- CoD
- Why the hell there's power and drink machines in an ancient temple. Blame Treya- THE ILLUMINATI! (Please someone get the references...)
- How you can magically survive shitloads of bullets (or sword slashes, if you're in medeival times) including shotgun buckshot and sniper bullets, but die by one shot to the head by a freaking pistol (or stab, still going with the old times stuff)- most fighting and/or FPS shooters
- Eating 'shrooms actually makes you grow and other shit- Ahem, what the hell are in your 'shrooms, Mario?
- Destroying lawn gnomes on your lawnmower and nobody seemingly gives a shit- Bully
- Guards can spot a shadow of you but don't bother investigating- 99.9% of stealth games
- You can smash your car going 200 MPH into a railing and you'd be perfectly fine to go back racing- most racing games
- Oh, I can survive four zombie bites at once via Juggernog and not get infected! - CoD Zombies
- ...As a side note, you can take said hits, but then jump four feet to simply die.
...All just from the top of my head. I also know Battlefield 2 ditched part-empty mags if you performed a tactical reload, if you guys were still wondering. EDIT:- ...Augh, I'm outta ammo! Oh, I know exactly what I can do! I'll just magically throw down this crate of ammunition that totally didn't materialize out of thin air! Take too many hits? All right, a bag full of bandages will automatically patch me up so that I'm 100% fine! Not to mention they're 100% going to stay there forever unless I throw another down! -Battlefield
- I can also steal this dude's gun, and just by doing that I also gain the ability to throw his ammo and his medkits to others! Yaaay! -Battlefield
