Who here wears a watch? If you do wear a watch, which watch do you wear?
I, personally, wear a Tissot Tradition (specifically model T063.610.36.038.00) that I purchased in Vienna on a recent vacation that I took there and it is an amazing watch. I got a great bargain on the watch (under €1.000, surprisingly) and it is a great watch which I would highly recommend to anyone in the market for a watch. I'll admit that I can be a tiny bit of a klutz, and I once or twice accidentally bumped the face of the watch against a table or door or something of the sort, but the watch is surprisingly unscratched. Now, I don't know why I'm surprised - it's sapphire crystal, after all, but prior to this watch the watches that I had were just cheap Swatches (I know that technically Tissot is owned by the Swatch group but shut the fuck up you know what I god damn mean), a Motorola 360 earlier this year and when I was really young I think I had a Flik Flak. The bracelet on my Tissot is also of amazing quality, being authentic leather. I wear my watch every day (and have done so since I was younger and only entrusted with the cheap crap) and so it's good to know that the bracelet won't wear down from taking it off once a night and putting it back on the next day. I've had not one, not two but a total of at least four watches with plastic bracelets become basically worthless because the bracelet wore through the joint where it was cheaply attached.
On a slightly tangential topic, what's everyone's thoughts on electronic/smart watches?
As I mentioned earlier I once had a Motorola 360, but before I review it there's a funny story behind that. See, when it's Christmas I pretend that I still think that there's a magic fat man who breaks into people's houses to give them stuff because my mother never told me otherwise and so I can use that to get expensive stuff. So last year for Christmas there were two things that I requested - a good quality watch that wouldn't break and a good quality set of headphones that wouldn't break. Now, my moth - I... I mean Mr. Claus doesn't know very much about watches, and must have thought that I, being a young people, would like something with a big number on the price-tag and that newfangled bluetooth internet thing. So I was given a Motorola 360 for Christmas. I spent a fucking week attempting to get it connected to my phone (at the time I was using an iPhone and those watches are designed for Android so that didn't help at all) and twice nearly destroyed it with a hammer I was so frustrated. Eventually I managed to get it to work and display the time, and all was well for about a month or two. I remember it was around Chinese New Year that it broke (I had a long weekend and so went to a small Indonesian island golf resort). I don't know what I even did to break it; the battery died at 4PM as it always did, I put it on the charger not long after and the next day it just wouldn't turn on. I kept trying to recharge it further when I got back from the Indonesian golf resort island, but to no avail. Eventually I did manage to get it to turn on and it was just a barrage of error messages. I will never put on a smart watch again after that experience.
